I like it! My guess is other phones will follow suit as time goes on. Now we just have to wait for everyone to have a car w/ gps and a smart phone. Unfortunately, this could be a looooong wait. Some people tend to keep cars a long time. I personally keep mine as my primary driver on average 10 years... and it doesn't have gps... but it does have a map... which i'll admit to looking at while driving...

Forgot to mention: Windows Phones have this feature as option - it can be enabled/disabled in the settings (something like auto mode or driving mode I think). My Nokia 1020 had it, but I no longer have that phone...

Correction though: it is to ignore incoming text messages/set up automatic replies (like "I'm driving"), and no GPS check - it is activated (if enabled) when the phone connects to the car's bluetooth... One may still be able to send out text messages (or disable this feature altogether)

Sometimes reviving an old thread is an excellent idea.

My daughter almost got front ended by a careless texter. She was pretty shaken up. Luckily she had the sense to see the guy coming at her from a distance and she could pull over far enuf for him to barely miss her. :amen:

Hells fire what timing with this thread. I was about to bitch about this in the vent thread. I like riding motorcycles. I made the decision to park and sell the mc because of this texting and driving horse shit. in the state of PA the fine is $50. it ought to be as bad a violation as DUI.

lol, this thread is almost two years old! Sadly idiots texting and driving are more of a menace than ever.

Well I just saw it. And I think it's a subject worth bitchin' about. I have a pretty big yard with about a 400' frontage. I have started looking at passing cars for drivers using phones. Many drivers have their face plastered in a phone. And most are young. They get a good wake up call when I holler "Look out". And the police are no different. I've seen many looking at the onboard computers while driving.

Good for you doing a little something. You got me thinking about a "text camera", similar to a speed camera. Camera snaps a pic of driver with his or her face stuck in their phone and they get a $1000 texting ticket in he mail!

Well wherever you go and whatever you do in public, chances are you are on camera. And a $50 fine ain't going to get it stopped.

Locking a phone out while driving isn't always the best way either. I use my kids to read and send texts to my wife when we are trying to figure out evening plans. Also on long trips when I taking over driving the SUV, my wife's phone is the Bluetooth connected phone, but she isn't driving.

I stated that I use my passengers on my phone to read an type texts.:cheers:

Why should my phone be locked out as a driver if passengers are using it as others have stated?:shrug:
