I contacted roughly 40 dealerships around Houston and outside within 100 miles. Eventually one dealer mentioned a 2017 for me at MSRP without any haggling.
I didn't ask if they have any more allocations for 2017, but they do have a white 2016 non-R coming in soon. If anyone is interested, let me know.

I just wanted to register in this forum to let y'all know that I found a track pack GT350 in grey with black stripes at Mac Haik Ford in Pasadena, TX (Houston Area). It is listed on cargurus.com at msrp and when I called the sales person said they are asking $5k over but are looking for any offers. This is my ideal car and is in my area but I'm not quite ready to move on one yet and am still contemplating a used 991 carrera s instead so hopefully someone can snag this sweet gt350 at msrp.

Autonation Ford in St Petersburg, FL has two GT350s available, both with $5k ADM. I'm not sure if they are willing to negotiate (looking for an R or a 2017 allocation, so I'm not interested).

Yesterday I received a call from a Canadian dealership offering me a 2017 R model allocation at $10K over MSRP.
Since I know this particular Ford dealership very well I politely passed on this offer which in my opinion was very reasonable based on current market conditions.
Some of you might not agree with me but that is my personal opinion at this time. I also asked them to give me a hour and I would have one of my friends and a great car buddy call them an lock down this R model opportunity which did take place.
Congratulations to the new owner and I look forward to his choice of color and/or other available options for this great car!
For those enthusiasts still looking for a decent deal on a 2017 R model do not give up as I suggest that there are still some good upcoming deals such as the one offered to me yesterday based on the 2017MY still being in the very early stages.
Certainly building long relationships with your local Ford dealer or any Ford dealer for that matter goes a long ways with respect to obtaining one of these great cars and I encourage all Mustang/Shelby enthusiasts to head down that path.
