Actually, the LT4 motor is hand built at the Chevy Performance Build Center. All LT4s moving forward will be produced there, by hand.

The LT1/LT4 have direct injection and cylinder deactivation in addition to producing a ton of power, so I'd argue they've done some serious engineering as well.

There's a reason the LS/LT V8s are "GMs Whore" as you say.. they're that good and have been for a very long time
Were all happy for your new Corvette purchase but there is one on almost every corner so nothing really special about a Corvette no matter what model.

Last time I looked at the 8 contenders for 2016 Road & Track Performance Car of the Year of which the ~$100K Z06 was a participant it was a runaway vote in favor of the GT350R with the Z06 no where in sight.

If it's totally all about price I suggest that you have made a wise choice to purchase a Corvette.

Let's face it there is a big reason why Chevrolet is discounting their performance vehicles such as the Z06 and the low production numbers of the Z28.

Good luck and enjoy your new ride and suggest that you move back to the Corvette forum as you are not going to convince anyone on here about the values of a new Z06.

My bad. I didn't know about it being hand built. Not a fan of cylinder deactivation, or the fact that they use Corvette motors in SUVs and trucks.
Maybe I am just old school but who in their right mind is concerned with cylinder deactivation on a high performance vehicle?

For anyone that wants a Shelby GT350/R, don't get discouraged. MSRP deals are out there. There are a lot of people on this forum and others reporting getting an MSRP deal (me included). My attitude is: "if so and so can find an MSRP deal, so can I". I didn't give up and I didn't get angry..just determined. Now that I've secured my order for my 2017 GT350, I know that the effort was worth it, and I will enjoy the car more. There was a slogan once for the Yellow Page, "let your fingers do the walking" :D Pick up the phone. Start dialing (or emailing). Only you can hold yourself back. OK enough of that. LOL sorry I got carried away but you know what I mean. Good Luck!!!:clap2: You can do it!

Exactly! I almost gave up, but if a dolt like me can bump onto one, then they're out there - and I'll bet there'll be more in the coming months. And to those dealers wanting $60k ADM - we here on this site are not suckers - those dealers will eat it in the end.

There is reason for z06 being discounted...and there is a reason for the R going over msrp. Id rather pay more money for something i want than pay a cent for something i dont. Lol

Rolaidz, how's your deal coming along? Everything squared away?

No, far far from squared away. I'm still hunting for an MSRP deal on a '17 Non R allocation. I PM'd you over the weekend when you were at a local dealership (thanks btw) to turn down the offer you found on one with ADM, so no... no deal for me yet :(

CARB, the EPA, etc...

Pretty damn stupid that a company like Ferrari has to turbocharge their cars just to keep up with emissions standards. They sell about 7K cars worldwide that get driven a few thousand miles a year. If every Ferrari got 100 mpg it would make basically zero difference in overall global emissions.

Fortunately, Ford sells a lot of other cars that get good mileage so we can get away with this thirsty 5.2 FPC as it doesn't impact CAFE much at all. Chevy sells a lot of Corvettes so it does likely have an impact on hitting CAFE targets.

OK, rant over. Back to our regularly scheduled programming of angry posts...

Ok. Thanks for the positive post. I'm back on board again. I'm not even looking for MSRP but willing to do 10-15k and it's still difficult, so far. I guess the silver lining is that those dealers with 20-30k ADM couple weeks later are still sitting on their 2017 R allocations and cars. I even had one sales manager admit to me he wants to wait it out hoping to catch some big fish.
