What reasonably should we who have no VIN expect on the 16th? Any chance Ford tries to make amends and ups the date sooner?

Don't get your hopes up. A computer at FORD is randomly selecting the cars based on its dealership algorithm. So its like winning the lottery if your car gets selected and scheduled (then you'll get a VIN). But I am pretty sure by March/April all cars that have been pre-ordered will have been delivered.

I hope my 5/23 order gets scheduled, it's my bday so that would be a nice gift.

This is just a guess, but I think you'll see a lot of cars scheduled on the 16th based on build date saving up a week for a lot of folks.

Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. I foresee some early orders getting shut out again. A computer doesn't care.

I will be MASSIVELY disappointed if I don't at least get a VIN on the 16th. I've known intellectually that I wouldn't be getting my car until January since I ordered it four months ago, but lately I've been toying around with the idea of getting something else just because I'm sick of waiting...

I will be as well. I mirror your sentiment. I just know that there will be May, June and July retail orderers left out again on the 16th. I hope I'm dead wrong, but I am conditioned to expect the worst. :(

Under promise and over deliver!

your approach is good and I'm hoping you see some progress next Thursday!

Well Happy Birth day Clink.... I hope mine gets here by mine which is January 28th.

I just wish this was more of a Disney philosophy....you go to Disney World to ride Space Montain...the sign says 2 hour wait, but ony takes 1 1/2 hours. You expect a wait, but when its not as long of a wait....you feel happy. I wanna feel happy......Ford, are you listening?

Since 2011 we have purchased a brand new Focus, F150, Fusion, and now this car......love has to be mutual to work.....

I'm looking at it this way as well…

There are 3 schedule-able build weeks in November. I don't count Thanksgiving Week, FRAP is probably off anyway.

There are 3 schedule-able build weeks in December. Forget Christmas and New Years weeks.

If Ford uses the 3 weeks in November to schedule only convertibles we have no chance at seeing our fastbacks until January. If we are blended together we may have a chance. Anything scheduled in December is looking at mid to late January or early February delivery.

If you get scheduled on 10/16 or 10/23 for those first 3 weeks of November you might have an outside shot of seeing your car before Christmas. So basically I see 2 more dates with decent outcomes and anything scheduled on 10/30 or after is going to be waiting to mid to late January or early February for delivery. (It could be that way anyhow.)

I am hoping for the best but prepared for more bad news. And yes I will STILL be po'd if I don't get scheduled on 10/16 even though I know this.

Just an FYI for you guys. COTUS never worked for me and I had my build sheet with the Dealer Code and Order number. My buddy that works as a tech at the dealership got my VIN from the buyer at the dealership. COTUS still doesn't work for me but the VIN shows up in COTUS but not based on dealer code and Order number.

Just wanted you guys to know in case you have only been relying on COTUS. Trisha couldn't help either.

Remember - Ford plays a part with it's allocation algorithm and the dealer plays a part in setting priorities on its orders.

Allocations are considered first. As each dealers turn comes up their lowest priority numbered order is scheduled (1) if they have an allocation and (2) if parts for that order are available. If the order schedules the allocation is used. If the dealer has no allocation or the lowest priority order is unbuildable, the dealer is skipped that round. This proceeds round after round going to the next lowest priority number order for each dealer until all allocations are used (or there are no dealers with allocations that have orders with buildable cars). The next step is to consider retail orders from dealers with no allocations. Again, if the lowest priority number retail order is buildable it will schedule. If not the dealer is skipped that round. This continues round after round until the production limit for that week is reached or there are no buildable orders left.

There are several ways some of the remaining early retail orders may go unscheduled next week.

(1) Dealer has no allocations and the commodties list is used up before the order is considered.
(2) Dealers with allocations have enough buildable orders to fill the entire production run for that week and the early retail order is at a dealer with no allocations
(3) Dealer has placed a higher priority number (say 15-19) on an early order but has accepted several new orders and placed a lower priority numbers on them (say 10 or 11)

Reminder - the order date only breaks ties on orders in the same dealership with the same priority number. An order dated 10/15 with a priority 10 will schedule before an order dated 5/20 with a priority 11 at the same dealership. A stock order at a dealer with an allocation and no retail orders will schedule before a retail order at a dealer with no allocations unless Ford steps in and changes the scheduling requirements for that week.

Not trying to dampen anyone's enthusiasm or dash any hopes, but this is how Ford has scheduled in the past and will likely continue to schedule now.
