Pretty much checked every box on the list besides stripes, not my thing. As glorious as the engine sounds, if I want my music on, I want it as HQ as possible, and those cool puddle lamps don't hurt.

Going for sort of an in-between base/ctfp style car with lighter/wider wheels (probably Signature) and removing the rear seats.
Does the deck lid come without holes for the curney flap? Im considering the same, these dealers are nutts right now with the CFTP, Id take the wheels off anyway and agree with signature ones.

If I'm reading your question right and recalling correctly, the rear deck lids are different for the base and the cftp. Different spoiler/wing anchor points or something like that. I'd imagine installing the carbon fiber GT4 wing aftermarket would require a new rear decklid.

The lid is the same. The holes drilled are different. Some use the same lid and fill the holes, but the right way to do it is weld the holes shut or just start over with a new lid and re drill the holes needed.

Ah, half right then, I'll take it. You sure know your stuff my friend.

Thats what I was asking. I haven't had enough coffee yet o type a coherent question. I tried with swapping rear flap/spoiler my 350 base but it was too complicated and I ended up getting an R anyway. I also had a very difficult time finding a new decklid painted the correct color., probably should have came here to ask where to go.

Can't go wrong with an R. I love when you see those EcoBoosts with the 350 front fascia and what I'm assuming is a fiberglass R wing.

Just buy a decklid of a GT that was wrecked on the front end. Drill it where needed.. Have it repainted.

That GT4 wing is going to cost a lot of money......

@themik99...Kona Blue CFTP with white vinyl stripes & no Tech Pkg.? A Marty Report rarity in the making.
Yep, it seems like most CFTP cars went all in on options, but I didn't feel the need to. Had SYNC 3 not come standard, I would have definitely ordered the tech pack. I've honestly never had any complaints about the quality of the sound system on my other vehicles, but I'm not huge into that anyway. It also seems like Kona Blue is a rarer color than in the past...and that just makes me happier with my decision. This car is replacing my 14 GT500 in Deep Impact Blue/White Stripes; same scheme, just much better for what I want to use it for! I (like most) have waited a long time for this car to come out!

People with CFTP if serious about tracking should opt out tech package. It is just extra weight.
This was definitely a part of my decision for sure, but it was more about already having SYNC 3 w/HD radio standard than anything else.

Thanks, its just experience from being around these cars so much.

Ford is pretty good at making it almost cost prohibitive for folks to do what you are thinking of doing.

Case in point using the R model as an example. The splitter on a GT350 can be had for about 300 bucks. The splitter on an R is over $2,000. The R rear wing retails for over $11,000. The carbon fiber wheels went up in price and were retailing for about $6,000 each. The seat delete used to be available but now its not. When it was, it was a $1,000 item. Ford doeant sell them anymore.

I do believe that AMBJR just sold his carbon fiber wheels off his CFTP for $18,000.

So you can try to buy replica and keep the costs down, but unless its OEM, you will not fool a trained eye.

If you can get past the ADMs, you are usually better off buying the R model or the CFTP rather than trying to convert it. Besides, there is more to the difference than the types of items listed above. It involves different suspension and tuning among other things.

So if you want to do a conversion, better get out your wallet.

For sure man, either way, CFTP or conversion is getting the wallet out at least now. I actually have the rear seat delete for my R as the rear seat has been put in. Funny that that piece of cardboard sells for 1000 bucks. The R spoiler retails like 9k+. I really appreciate the info, I think just some patience will be the likely route to go for a CFTP. The ADMs have been moving targets so I think letting the hype cool off will be beneficial. I got antsy with the 350 and got a base but realized exactly what you said about conversion hence just swapping to an R.

The GT350R wing retail price is over $11,000 and street price is a little below that.

Edited to add:

The GT500 CFTP GT4 wing retails for over a whopping $26,000

And go on diet before track days....
I had no problem ordering the tech package for the CFTP. The sum of the weight really isn't a lot. The subwoofer is the anchor and millstone in that package and is easily removed. Its not like getting a base R, the car still has a lot of the items that weigh whether you get the package or not. It really just comes down to cost.

For instance, when I replaced the rear speakers in one of my R models (when I had it all apart for the roll cage install), the OEM speakers hardly weighed anything. Despite the B&O name, I suspect the speakers will be about the same quality. I should have mine soon, and when I install the Watson lightweight roll cage (that I had manufactured for us in the group buy), I'll be sure to pull a speaker and check out the weight and quality.

The only thing that the CFTP is lacking is the ability to get painted side stripes. I recently bought a set of vinyl side stripes to install. Its a shame they aren't available to be painted on along with the over the top stripes.

You'll see it soon enough. It should be coming out of Penske this week and then the wait on the shipping both out of Flat Rock and then the rail yard. It sure would be nice if I could pick it up in Flat Rock.
