In high temperature locations like where I live in central Texas, Royal Purple helps my engines run a bit cooler.

BMW oil changes recommended by BMW factory using sythetic oil is every 15,000 miles.
which they have renigged after it caused a ton of issues. They quietly lowered it back to 10k

My Mercedes was 10K per. I had it checked at 15K (I changed it myself at 5K to get rid of the first oil) and was told it could go another 5-7K at least before there was anything to even start worrying about. Was Mobile 1 0W-something.

Changing oil in that car was so easy. Filter is accessible topside. Suck out out with an oil sucker doo-dad, replace. Took minutes. No getting under the car. Baffles me this is not commonplace.

We still have customers that do it. They definitely have self-inflicted problems.

Not that long oil change cycles are bad but bmws already have enough issues and our oil isnt the best from what ive seen.

Im a bmw master tech. I know wha bmw calls for
It also creates a lot of our leaky seals.
I thought that's not the oil's problem. It's more to the material they use.
I had a 13 year old BMW and all the rubber seals turned into plastic.

Unless you do high mileage their filters are a waste of cash in my experience. Are you doing 10k per change? Only way they are worth it.
I am not sure what I will be doing my intervals at. Changed out the factory fill to AMSOIL and did an oil analysis at 1,058 miles and plan to do another oil change and oil analysis at 5K and go from there based on the results.

Regardless, it's $10 for the filter. Even if I change my oil twice a year, that's what, $6-8 extra for total a year? I'll skip Starbucks for a day if it means a year's worth of better product for my car.

You should skip Starbucks every day and go to a locally-owned coffee place. The difference is huge. Especially if you like actual coffee, not skinny mocalapafrapalatapatas.

It was an analogy, I actually don't drink Starbucks unless I am with my wife (who works for them) and I end up getting an iced tea anyway.

However, we do drink it at home and their coffee beans are pretty high quality. I t hink people would be shocked to find out how much goes into selecting those beans and making sure they are kept up to standards. Rail against their business practices, but the beans are quality stuff.

You have one of the ea filters? Last time i bought one it was around 17-18 bucks. 10 bucks is definitely less than last time i bought one. I wonder if they came down in price.

went mobil 1 @ 5,000 miles and now change when oil life gets below 10% (9,000 is miles).

Been doing this for every car I have ever owned since 1992.

Yep, one is on my car now. Just double checked and in December it cost me $10.50 and the one I bought this week for my upcoming change cost $10.50 as well.

I am just gonna use Motorcraft oil and filter. I don't drive mine enough per year to justify the protection. 4000 miles a year is hardly anything on the oil.

Wtf. The mustang filter must just be cheaper then the last filter i bought some years ago.

10.50 is a good price for an Ea. I wont spend more or less then 7-12 bucks on a filter. I like bosch because its cheaper and uses the same filter housing as an m1 filter and good for at least 7500 miles. Pureones for the price and great housing design as well. I usually only resort to m1 filters when bosch or pureones arent made for my application. Glad to hear the amsoil is at least cheap for the gt.

I wouldnt leave that oil in a car all year. Id run better oil if you want to do that. Its tbn levels dont even finish that high to want to leave motorcraft in that long. Im not suggesting it needs to be amsoil. At least pennzoil ultra, it has higher tbn levels. Its your car though.
