Sync3 will not update

I got a message on my Ford Pass that there was an update to improve the sound of the stereo. I'm on a WIFI network and when I push check for updates it just shows the icon circle spinning and says checking for updates. But that's it. Ten minutes later it still searching. Is this normal? Has anyone else tried this update?

My experience has been that the WIFI updates work some of the time, no way to predict when they’ll work. Just keep trying, and good luck.

Can you please do a screen print of the message on Fordpass. I've never seen a Sync 3 update that couldn't be done using a flash drive and I have not seen this yet. I also cannot find anything on my Fordpass app either. Thanks.

I went back and tried again but scrolling below the button to check for updates it had the software version with an upload date past the date of Fords notification. I guess it automatically updated.

Update using a memory stick. Instructions are on Ford's website. That's how I do it

May have to explain to OP how to find the current version installed. Sorry OP, not trying to talk down on you but in case you don't know how to get to the screen to show the current version in your car.

Just saw that I have an update as well. I downloaded and will install using a memory stick. Doing it with built in wifi is so hit or miss.

I just tried updating with usb and it fails and gives a software error message so I guess I will need to download again or try wifi. I did format the file system correctly too. Will report back.

Mine didnt work on wifi, so I did it manually with a usb drive and that worked for me.

Turns out my Mustang auto installed in early November with auto update and my home wifi. Cool.

I reformatted my drive and copied the files to the usb again and it worked properly so I guess something was corrupted on the first attempt. Doesn't sound much different to me despite claiming it would in the notes.
