I have a 2015 base model GT and just did the swap from Sync 1 to Sync 3. The radio I installed has version 1.0. How do I go from version 1.0 to version 3.4?

A friend of mine said that all I need is to plug in a USB with the software on it. Another friend said that I have to upgrade to an earlier software prior to updating to 3.4.

I’m confused.

Do you have the VIN from the doner radio you have? If so, you could plug that into the website and see if you can get the latest update.

If not, might want to go the CyanLab way and update that way.

I think the OP might have to go to sync 2.3 then 3.0
They cyanlab is also an option

I updated my '17 V6 to Sync 3 a maybe three years ago. The APIM I acquired had Sync 3 version 1. I did some searching and found a download link / instructions (sorry looked for the link and can't find it) and downloaded / updated to Sync 3 v2.2 (this is non NAV). I ran that in my '17, I ran that when I pulled the Sync 3 swap out of my '17 (Traded in) and installed the same setup on my '19 GT. I recently updated to Sync 3.4 via Cyanlabs and it worked without any issues.

It was for me - I did it on my non nav 2016 unit (what's installed in my '19 GT) and no issues upgrading my wife's '17 with nav...

I have it installed as well. It was pretty straight forward and you will need some info from your current SYNC radio.

I followed this guide for mine. My SYNC was 3 version 3.0
