So my GT350 will be two years old next month (or at least I will have owned it that long). When I first bought it I paired my phone and everything worked flawlessly, including text message readout. After about 6 months I got a new phone (iPhone 6 to an iPhone 7 when I changed service providers). It took me a while to realize that my text messages weren’t reading back to me, but I went back into the settings and it worked fine. About 6 months or so ago, I changed from ATT service to a new program run by ATT called FirstNet. It uses both the existing network and a new network they are building out, but essentially emergency responders have priority on the network. I am using the same iPhone 7 but with a new SIM card. Voice call functionality is fine but not recognition of incoming text messages at all. Any ideas? I have deleted and repaired the phone twice.

Guessing FirstNet has a different and secure text mode protocol that Sync can’t read. You probably need a FirstNet certified and approved phone, even then using it for your everyday private text messages is probably not a good idea and may be in a grey area. Let’s just say I know a bit about these things. FirstNet was set up for first responders and states to have a way to have immediate contact, and not rely on various LMR radio systems on different frequencies that may or may not be interoperable with each other. I’d keep my private texts and phone, on a private number.

Thanks - I was worried it might be something like that. If I understand you correctly, changing phones won’t fix the problem. We respond from wherever we are, so carrying two phones wont really make a difference.
