Is there a way of switching off the alarm with the fob?
I managed to switch the alarm off by getting in the car and pressing the start button
(I don't know how I set the alarm off)
But if the alarm had gone off behind the locked garage door I don't know how I could have stopped it. I pressed every button on the fob

Thanks

Unlock the doors, alarm goes off.
This worked for me the other day when I locked the doors with someone inside. When they opened the door, the alarm went off and unlocking the door shut it down.

However, many times the FOB gets a tight squeeze in my pocket and activates the "panic" function. When that happens, I usually just press the panic button to shut it off. I haven't tried using the unlock button for this scenario...

That so called panic button is a sham. The only “panic” is when you accidentally activate it in your pocket and become one of the a-holes you always taked about back in the day.

That doesn't work for me. Only way to turn it off is to push the start button in the car.

Me too. But what if the car is in a locked garage you cannot get in to, but you have the fob, how do you switch it off?

Have you tried what the manual says?

Martin,

I'll assume you are serious. :D

If you bought the car new it came with a printed owner manual.

In addition pdf and/or html versions of the owner manual are available here:

ANTI-THEFT ALARM

The system will warn you of an unauthorized entry to your vehicle. It will be triggered if any door, the luggage compartment or the hood is opened without using the key, remote control or keyless entry keypad.
The direction indicators will flash and the horn will sound if unauthorized entry is attempted while the alarm is armed.
Take all remote controls to an authorized dealer if there is any potential alarm problem with your vehicle.
Arming the Alarm
The alarm is ready to arm when there is not a key in your vehicle. Electronically lock your vehicle to arm the alarm.
Disarming the Alarm
Disarm the alarm by any of the following actions:
Unlock the doors or luggage compartment with the remote control or keyless entry keypad.
Switch your vehicle on or start your vehicle.
Use a key in the driver door to unlock your vehicle, then switch your vehicle on within 12 seconds.
Note: Pressing the panic button on the remote control will stop the horn and signal indicators, but will not disarm the system.
