Swapped cat-backs today

I bought my 2017 gt new this year and immediately installed a corsa extreme cat-back, and while it sounds really good, it's just simply too loud for the type of driving I do, especially spending a lot of time driving around town. So yesterday I installed the borla touring cat-back to my factory manifolds and cats, and it's not as loud as what I expected based off of the youtube videos I watched. It sounds really good, however, and stays smooth and refined all the way up to 7500 rpm's. I sure miss hearing those corsa's, but it's almost like it's more fun to drive now because you can rip around town faster without advertising it. I do wish the borla touring was a little bit louder though, and i'm hoping a set of long tubes will do the trick. I'm almost considering replacing the resonator with a X-pipe, but I'm afraid i'll loose the deep, smooth tone that I have now. I basically want to keep the same tone, just a little more volume. Any suggestions?

If keeping stock headers and cats, swap to the X-pipe, which makes it the S type catback, or change the axleback to the ATAK. Either will produce a similar increase in volume.

Is this the "normal" Borla one and not the Ford Racing one? I looked at that exhaust for a while but settled on the Corsa Touring axleback which I am not super happy with, it leaks badly everywhere and the fitment was awful.

I was considering switching to this one and putting headers on next year, since I don't want the volume to be super loud.

Hopefully Santa brings me long tubes, but I don't know if I can contain myself for almost two more months. I may have to experiment with the X-pipe in the mean time.

It's not the ford racing, just the regular Borla touring cat-back. I wish it had just a tad more volume, but it still sounds really good. It's a sort of smooth, deep, powerful tone, just not super loud, and no rasp. Hope that helps.

I would go with an H pipe for what you're looking for, actually.

There are a ton of different direct fit H-Pipes or you can save money and buy a universal H-Pipe, have it installed/welded in at a muffler shop.

Lethal, Mishimoto, summit racing. They're cut and clamp, but designed for the stock exhaust. I would look at cutting your stock exhaust where the H pipe instructions day, as well as where the Borla S-type axleback instructions would say, and use the stock piping in between the H and the mufflers. That way you don't tear up the Borla midpipes if you ever want to sell.

I would second reaching out to Corsa on fitment. They've taken care of people on here. I've installed 3 of them and they've been perfect on fitment if everything is done correctly.

As you mentioned, though, the midmuffler sounds great but it's too quiet sometimes. I have resigned to switching back and forth every couple months as I get tired of one and yearn for the other. Headers plus the midmuffler would probably be the way to go if not for emissions issues.

Being able to rip on it and not drawing as much attention is why i like my varitunes. They are muscle car loud below 3500 but as you get higher in the rpms its no where near as loud as straight through mufflers.

Agree, brother. I'm hoping a set of long tubes will give me just the sound i'm looking for. I'll be sure to report back when I get them on.
