Suspension advice appreciated

Got my tax refund back and sat aside a some money for a suspension upgrade (let's say $700 -ish) Everything (suspension-wise) is currently stock from the GT base package.

My goal is better suspension performace than the base and a small drop in ride height. I DD my mustang and haven't, and likely won't, track it. I also occasionally drive my 15 month old daughter and my wife so I would like to avoid breaking their necks every time I hit a bump hahah.

Aside from lowering springs, what else should I include get so at to maximize performance vs cost? I can't spend a whole lot right now so full suspension packages are out out of the equation for the time being.

Advice and input would be very much appreciated!

The Progressive Springs & Fixed Pro Actions shocks will give you a better ride quality & better handling.

That will put you under your budget without sacrificing ride quality.

If not that route, we can look at some other upgrades including the rear subframe support braces, bushings, etc. to tighten up the rear-end & give you more control.

Happy to put together a package for you ... but the springs/shocks are a great way to go that will not sacrifice the ride quality & will give you the extra handling needs you are seeking.

I have the Steeda Progressive springs too and was pleasantly surprised at the ride quality. My wife begged me not to lower this Mustang like I have all of my other cars. I had to do it though because I hated the huge wheel gap although the S550 is better than previous gens. She actually said the ride was BETTER with the Steeda Progressive springs than on the stock springs! The car seemed kind of bouncy before. The progressive springs have a lower initial rate that absorbs the small bumps that really makes the ride more comfortable but then stiffens up to reduce brake dive and provides great support in the corners.

We didn't have aftermarket dampers for a while and the Konis came out just before Steeda released their Pro-Action dampers. I got the Konis which are an improvement but adjusted to the soft end, they're a bit stiff. I wish I had waited for the Steeeda Pro-Actions which are a much better damping range for the setup.

A 3rd thing I would throw in there that is very inexpensive but helpful is the Steeda adjustable bumpstops. Lowering the car, we found out later the rear bump stops do need to be trimmed. If you're on a real tight budget, trimming the stock bump stops is better than nothing but not as good as the Steeda bumpstops. It seems our car rides on those quite a bit.

Ive got the progressives & adjustable s from steeda. not sure where the fixed are in ride quality, but I use mine as DD as well & wont track mine. i have the shocks & struts near full soft & I like the ride. Its still a sport car so you still do get feedback from the raod
