Everyone I've known that has or had a sunroof or moonroof on their car barely touches them.

Having the windows open is enough for me if it's cooler outside. If it's in the middle of summer and 80+ degrees, I'd just turn the ac on anyway

I HATE sunroofs, they take up too much of the limited headroom. Those over 6'2" ought to know what I mean.

Mustangs normally have sunroof or moonroof options as well. This is the first model year of a new platform. Ford will get there eventually on this model. I'd rather have a cooled steering wheel option though  (live in AZ).
Mustangs have not had any moonroof/sunroof option the last ten years.
If you see any 2005-2014 mustang with a moonroof/sunroof , it's aftermarket.

More like 20 years, Mustangs haven't come with a factory sunroof since 1993 on the fox body, my 91 had it.

I totally get the people that never use their moonroof (the correct term to use for a modern hole in the roof that has motorized moving glass). Some people just do not use them or like them. I on the other hand like it for all the reasons others have listed-venting, fresh air, openness, sun, etc. I use mine almost every day its not raining very hard, 100 degrees and humid, or less than 30 degrees and snowy. I would love an option for a moon roof, but since I am planning on a convertible-its not much of an issue for me.

I too think a hole in the roof is completely pointless. If I wanted wind blowing crap around my interior, I'd buy a convertible.

Every time I open the one in my Jetta it reminds me why they invented A/C and I close the thing and shut the shade.

I get that different people like different things, but I can't for the life of me understand why anyone in their right mind would enjoy such a thing.

probably getting a convertible so it does not matter, but could it be because of the shape of the roof? The "peak" of the roof is right above the driver's head, and the shape would make fitting a sunroof pretty difficult IMO.

Chris

Edit: We have a sunroof in our 2002 Explorer just because it came with it, and the only time we use it is when our German Shepherd stands on the center console and looks out, she seems to really like it. I like it better than my wife, but I much prefer a convertible myself.

I wanted the glass roof initially (not a fan of sunroofs much) but after spending time in Napa last week with a large sunroof equipped car I dont think i want it - while a good sunroof/glassroof does reduce most of the IR and UV thanks to multiple layers of reflective film, I prefer the shade and the 30+ pounds weight savings up high is significant, esp for folks ordering a serious sporty configuration like the PP etc.

The heated steering wheel thats possibly flat bottomed is likely to make it to a mid cycle refresh (along with potentially some more mid range EB engines and perhaps DI in the GT and an 8 spd auto - all speculation) just like its doing so with the Focus ST. I would have liked that but its a nice to have for me (along with heated Recaros) - no where near a deal breaker.

Favorite parts about having a sunroof:

- On really hot days it helps the hot air escape from the car quicker after you get in.
- Venting it prevents the pressure buildup that you normally get when you have one window open and the other(s) closed.
- On my old car I use to like just sticking a cigarette up through it to pull off the ash while I was driving, but there's no smoking in my Mustang.
- When it's raining but too cold to run the air conditioner you can open the vent to prevent moisture buildup from fogging the interior windows without getting the inside of the car wet like you would opening the regular windows.
- Whenever the air gets stuffy / smelly in the car but it's too cold to open the windows, the putting on the heat blower and opening the vent allows you to circulate air out of the passenger compartment without letting the windows open and cooling the cabin down.

And this doesn't really apply to me since you can't see any stars where I live, but it's nice sometimes when you're out in some rural area where there are stars to be able to park the car and put the seat back and stare up at them for a while.
All of that^ can be done with a 1" crack in each window. (except star gazing)

I've opened my moonroof in my BMW about 3 times.. and that was only to hear my exhaust better. (It was standard)

It appears you live in Portland. I live in Atlanta. I bet if you lived here for a week during the summer you might change your mind. For the first five to ten minutes AC isnt even touching the heat inside the car. They call it Hotlanta for a reason..With all windows down, sunroof back it makes the car livable until the AC gets kicking. In addition there are a good five months down here that if you have the sunroof/windows down its the perfect temp inside the car..No AC/Heat needed.

I definitely agree that it should be an option, however. People should not be forced into it if they wont use it or their height causes a problem. Charge the people that want it an extra 1k and be done with it.

I would love a heated steering wheel! Gets cold in Denver, would be nice to have a quickly warm wheel in the mornings.

I live in Canada. Heated Steering wheel is a must. I usually wear gloves in the winter.

As for sunroof. I am going from a Panoramic Sunroof to nothing. Its the only thing I WISHED the Mustang had. I'm going to miss it dearly, as I use it every single day. (In the summer).

There are aftermarket options to getting a sunroof but the cost is too astronomical to be worth it.
