Suggested logging/monitoring device?

Looking for suggestions on a datalogger

Right now I'm still using an SCT BDX, works perfectly fine, but there's a few more improvements.

First is that you can really only monitor 8 items in real time, 4 if you want max/min

The other is that you can only store 1 log at a time, and then you have to offload it. You can log directly to a laptop but it's nice to just have the device in the car. Needs more 'slots' or something to save logs to.

The AVID looks nice but I don't need a tuner and don't want to spend $699. I have not used an HPT/RTD + VCM, would like to avoid having to bring the laptop along.

I'm sure there's some kind of $99 OBD2 reader out there with a 4-5" screen that lets you store a bunch of logs and is easy to copy them over to a laptop with. Right?

Something i have been meaning to try.... If life would slow down...

An app called OBD Fusion appears to work with Carplay now. So you can have it on the screen and you at least used to be able to export logs from your phone. I haven't used it in a long time, but something i've been thinking about trying since my ESS install. You may have just given me the push to try this weekend. Unsure on how the screen real estate would work, but it used to pick up all the PIDs on some of my cars back in the day.
