I'm also curious to know if anyone has installed a clear bra on cars that have a vinyl stripe package? I'm considering a front bumper wrap on my GT350 but not sure if it's the right move long term since I don't plan on selling this car. I have a highly regarded local company who said they could do this but I'd like others feedback if anyone has done the same.
I don't have stripes, but the guy who's going to do my clear bra asked whether I had stripes. He said if there are stripes he has to cut around them, so it makes the install more complicated. Not a huge deal, though. You should still have no problem getting a clear bra installed on the car.

Has anyone detailed their vehicle yet, or have any comments on how they think the stripes will hold up over time -- whether washing the car, or what happens if one gets a stone chip?

I'm wondering how bad the potential is for peeling at the edges or corners.

The only way to really keep a car clean here over the winter months is by taking it to a self-wash bay, but they all only have power washers... which is a big no-no for stripes. I may order the vehicle with no stripes just because of this.
Are you planning on driving your GT350 during the winter months in Michigan?

If you read my post #4 it is pretty much self explanatory and if you do plan to drive your car during the winter in Michigan just take your car to a wand wash location and you will be fine.

To order no stripes because of this potential issue does not make sense to me if you happen to like stripes on a car which many people do.

Good luck with your decision!

My car was just delivered today. Looking at the stripes they have faint scratch marks like others have discussed. It wasn't from detailing at the dealer because I told them don't clean it; I'm doing a full detail at home upon delivery tomorrow.

I wonder if these marks can be fixed using a treatment like u would on paint. I guess these things scratch easily.

some of it is going to depend on where you live.
a Michigan stripe may get wiped out by a power washer. but a Texas or Arizona stripe may bake itself to the paint, and after a few years nearly impossible to remove without damaging the clear coat and the strip could be dried up and crusty.
I've wondered this myself as the mustang is the ONLY car that looks good with stripes (of many sorts).

I'd get a no-stripe car. or get a stripe car and peal them off. then some day down the road you can include new stripes to the buyer, if you think that helps long term value.

Thanks again. I recall your post #4 -- I was just asking again since more people have received the cars since then.

I would be driving this during winter in Michigan, yes. And if not for my concerns over durability, I would get stripes no question...

The color of the stripes totally change how white / avalanche gray / magnetic look (the 3 choices I can't decide between). I think out of the three of those, if I were not to get stripes, I would only be okay with the no-stripe AG or magnetic. But you're right... I shouldn't let the fear of a stripe getting torn or chipped deter me from getting them, however, it is making me second guess at the moment.

The 3M Pro ppf that I just had installed on my GT350 covers the stripes on the bumper and hood to the vent. Can't tell it's there and didn't change the appearance of the stripe gloss.

RoadRacer, any chance we could get an up close pick of an area that shows the covered and uncovered side with lighting to show the minimal contrast?

I know…the difference is very subtle. The vent makes it possible to avoid covering the entire hood but yet not see an edge line of the film on the stripes. I really like it and plan on doing the rocker panels before putting it into garage hibernation.

So you just covered the area in between the outside edges of the stripes? Is that the 36" size? I can't believe how much some of the price quotes were for this...

Entire hood in front of the vent is covered....including the stripes. Entire bumper including the stripes also covered. My approach was that the stripes need to be protected too.

Wow, that looks great! I was afraid covering the stripes would screw it up.
