This is mainly a question out of curiosity. Has anyone swapped out the stock plugs for a colder set and seen any difference in performance on the stock tune?

Many have done it, a few say they feel quicker throttle response. No performance gains have been documented to my knowledge. As the tiny gains, if any at all, are not worth the trouble of verifying.

I won't provide a noticeable increase in performance per se, but it will help in the area of reducing the chance of pre-ignition/detonation. Also, if your factory plug gap is all over the board (like many seem to be), then it might help it to run smoother than before. Plugs are relatively cheap and every ounce of added protection helps on a high-strung, boosted 4 cylinder that makes the kind of power that it does.

Sounds like a solid plan to me. Looks like I'll be ordering a set soon.
