I had to replace the wheel airbag after an accident- everything is fine but now the controls won't work.

Where should I start looking/checking first?

I'm fairly certain I plugged everything in and installed the clock spring correctly.

Yes, but I’m starting to think I got a defective one.
I'm thinking clock spring or one of the connectors was missed going into clock spring. It's been a few months but I recall one at the bottom. Lastly perhaps the harness that goes between controls and clockspring was damaged.

I tried my old clock spring and it still doesn't work. I'm fairly certain nothing was damaged or pinched while installing.

Now I'm thinking something needs to be reset via the Ford scan tool.

You usually need to program new sccm(clockspring) via forscan but odd old one doesn't work. Why did replace old clockspring, melted air bag Connectors???

Yes, bc the sensors were melted. The old one not working has me thinking it’s the SCCM. Is it common these even go bad? Or was it the accident that caused them to go bad?

I have a buddy that has a forscan tool at a dealership but it’s 2 hours away. So I’m wondering if it’s worth it to get the SCCM and then scan or could the scan fix this and I won’t need an SCCM at all.

Update: The upshift paddle works but downshift doesn't... any ideas?
