The reverse lockout on my Steeda tri ax has failed. It worked for seven months and then got more difficult to use for about a week and now it is not working at all. It wont go into reverse at all. (I tried with the engine off to eliminate clutch drag as a problem.) Has anybody else had this problem? I sent an email to Steeda on Sunday but I have not heard back from them. Can I address this by popping the shift boot or do I have to take the whole console off? I didn't do the initial install so it's kind of a mystery to me right now. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I do have an issue getting the car into reverse as well. I usually have to put it into another gear first before attempting to bring it into reverse. I also have an issue with it getting stuck in gear when I have the clutch in and I'm coming to a stop. Not sure if SteedaTech can help us out with that. I've just been dealing with it.

First unscrew your shift knob about two turns and see if it goes into reverse. Then hit us back on here. This will help with the diagnosis. Thanks!

That is the magic! Works now. I guess it is migrating because the shift knob hadn't been spinning. I have a permanent fix on the way (MGW ordered). Thanks for your help. I should have tried that first.

If you are ever in the Tampa area I'll buy you a beer. Note to self, try the easy stuff first.

I had that same issue with the stock shifter after doing 3 passes at a 1/8th mile track. I guess I was holding the shifter tight and slightly rotating it as I was slamming into gears. As I was leaving I had a hard time putting it into 1st or reverse. I thought I screwed up the transmission. I started to tell some friends to hold on and not leave. Then I loosened the knob a little and fixed. Such a relief.

Mine hung up a couple of times like yours. I had to jerk it out of first to get it to disengage in a parking lot or two.

That's exactly what happens. It has started occurring more frequently, unfortunately.

I'm bailing and going with an MGW. I told the wife it is a safety issue. Of course that's what I told her about the ProCharger too. She just rolls her eyes.

If you remember, shoot me a PM after you get the MGW installed and let me know if that issue goes away.

In some cases it could be the clutch not disengaging completely, causing it hard to get in or out of gear. PM your contact info and I will go over it with you to determine the cause.

Thank You,

Mike D
