Is anybody else finding their rear deck is becoming static and as a result picking up cr@p?

Car looks lovely and clean, short drive and back panel is covered.

Not sure I understand the question :) Static?
I'm pretty sure the reason the rear ends of cars get so dirty is due to air flow throwing up the dirt if thats what you mean?

no, black shiny panel seems to be electrostatic, covered in small hairs and bits of rubbish everytime car is driven. Wondered if anybody else finding this also?

You may be on to something... We have dogs and the Mustang is parked out front and the dogs only get near when they go walkies and they are loaded and unloaded from the CRV but like everything else in the house the rear deck lid was covered in dog hair today.

That's interesting.lol If the deck lid is being polished or rubbed it will then obviously become more positively charged. You can get an anti static electrical cleaner spray. Somewhere like Halfords might have this. Or you can get those anti static sheets that go in your washing machine with a load. Could try rubbing it down with one of those. But not sure what effect this may have with either of these and may remove any polished or waxed finishes that may have been applied to the deck lid?

I'm not in the UK, but just did a search on "static" because my car collects dust fairly fast. Kind of strange as I get shocked when stepping out into my garage and touching the door to close it. Anyway, I have had a bottle of a product called Brillianize that we used to use to polish plastic globes that keno balls bounced around in, mainly it was to help subdue the static charge the thing would build up. I haven't used it yet, been researching still, but all the videos and product literature sure does lend itself to fit my car's needs. I think my clear bra might have something to do with it, being on the front end and our climate being so dry (and that I love going fast ) Just want to make sure it's safe for the clear bra before I use it. Heck one of the video's show a guy who claims to polish his whole car with it. I'm betting there are other antistatic polishes for plastic, just thought I'd mention this one.

Just checked mine this morning. Incredible amounts of dust, hair, tiny bits stuck to the deck lid. Looks like i'm going to be walking around with my microfiber mit and cleaning it. Cant have people behind me seeing dust on my car :O!

Use some anti static wipes - the sort people use on Vinyl records if anyone else remembers them!
