Just bought a Forge star 20 x 9 CF10 in matte black and I'm thinking of getting a 285/35/20 all around. I'm lowered on vogtland 1.5 drop and currently running a Niche Anthracite Targa 20 x 10 and 20 x 8.5 with 305 rears and 265 fronts. with a square set up on my new wheels whats the widest i can get without rubbing specially in the front. thanks

I wouldn't put more than a 265 on a 9in wide wheel.

Rubbing is not directly related to putting an oversized tire on a wheel. Has to do with offsets, alignment, and maximum tire width (which is about 295 up front with the right offset, maybe 305 with some camber).

A 9" wheel should not have anything more than a 265; 275 maybe. If you want 285, you should have gotten a 9.5" or 10" wheel.

I have 275's on 9in wheels in front with no rubbing.
Rubbing isn't the issue - it is bowing...

Having said that, many people are running 275s on 9" wheels quite happily: though I wouldn't...

Yeah I was just answering OP's question. True, the tires do bulge out slightly but as you said a lot of guys are running 275 on 9in wheels but ideally I would like to run them on a 9.5in wheel in the future.

So a little about tire information

275/35/20 recommended sizes are 9 to 11"

285/35/20 recommended sizes are 9.5 to 11"

now a 285 can work on a 9" but it buldges a bit too much IMO so 275 comes out perfect.
tamboRL did you get the wheels on the car yet?
