Took my GT out for the third time today, on a little run up into Shropshire. I'm learning a bit more about it each time I take it out.

It was actually almost dry today so a bit of a new experience. I was pressing on a little bit more at times and it was SO enjoyable - not the most hi-tech of experiences, but all the better for it. You can feel that it's a mechanical thing and you're not being insulated by over-zealous electronics or un-necessary 'sophistication' (for want of a better word). You can feel the road through the front wheels, you can feel the rear through the seat of your pants, you can feel the gears clicking into place through your fingertips - it's a beautiful experience and so rewarding. It's still in 'normal' mode by the way - I want to make sure I have a good feel for the car in it's base setting before I switch to 'sport' or 'race', so that I'll be able to feel the differences.

As I mentioned previously I'm finding it difficult to hit the brake and throttle at the same time while pottering around, so smooth gear changes tend to have to be double de-clutch - the upside is that if you're pottering the massive torque means you don't have to change gear too often. But as I suspected, the harder you're on the brakes the better the brake and throttle pedals align.

Maybe it's because I'm not giving it full bananas, but 1st and 2nd seem to be almost too low geared - I find I'm throwing gears at it very quickly when moving off from a standstill. Also the throttle pedal travel seems too long, maybe this changes when you engage 'sport/race' - I certainly hope so, but it is one of those things that is down to personal preference, so they can't get it right for everyone I guess.

It certainly builds speed very quickly, and in almost any gear (except for top). Very impressive. Tyres I'm not having a problem with. OK, they may not be the ultimate best but they're not bad and you drive to what you have available - so once you have a feel for them you know what to expect.

Steering feels good, if not too sharp - slight understeer seems to be the order of the day, again a function of 'normal' mode I hope.

I'm finding the 'Engine Parameter' displays useful - from cold the 'Oil Temp' and 'Cylinder Head Temp' gauges are invaluable for minimising engine wear as much as possible. The trip computers are useful when pottering or on a motorway run, but bog-all use when the driving gets enthusiastic.

Basically, the more I'm driving this car the more I'm liking it. It looks good, sounds good and makes a memorable experience of even the most mundane trip. Therefore logic would seem to tell us, OMG! .... what must the GT350 be like! F:censored:K I want to try one of those! :D

I have been out for some 'spirited' driving a couple more times myself.
It so frustrated not having some nice dry roads to try out but I am coming to grips with it. I still think that I could drive faster in a hot hatch at the moment but only because I would feel more confident.

When you do get a nice bit of road with some sweeping bends, it is just amazing. It puts a smile on my and any passengers, faces from ear to ear.

One thing I have discovered is that as soon as the back end gets out of line, it just grips again when you back off. I have not lost the front end at all. Mind you, I do feel that if the front end goes, its game over.

Please note. I am a novice when it comes to driving powerful cars fast. So I dont want anyone who has not had your car delivered yet, worrying that its a handful. Its my inexperience that is the issue, not the car. I am being patient with it as I DO NOT want to make friends woth hedges, lamp post or other cars!

Also insurance quotes for this Mustang are really low at the moment so don't all end up in hedges thus bumping up the premiums before I get mine :D

Just been out for a nice drive in the....wait for it....DRY!
I tried normal, Sport and Race. Hardly got any wheel spin in any of them and car just stayed on the straight and narrow.

To be honest it was I job to tell. Seemed to rev quicker in sport but that could have been in the head. With race I thought I would get lots of wheel spin but didnt.

TBH, the car is so fast and you're so far away from the limit of it's capabilities on a public highway it probably will be difficult to tell. That's why I want to get a good feel for the car in 'normal' mode - get to know all the subtleties and nuances. Despite the clever electronics doing their best to get in the way, it's still a mechanical device and mechanical devices talk to you - you just need to listen. As I said, I've only driven my car 3 times for a grand total of 250 miles and probably only a handful of those at anything approaching 'fast', so still in the 'getting to know you' phase. Confidence is everything

Took 'The beast' for a good run today. Up the A22 on wet roads. I actually started wanting the rear end to step out as I accelerated out of roundabouts. I am already beginning to get used to the car so much more already.

I went to East Grinstead for a regular 3 monthly visit and while I was in the waiting room I started smiling. Why? Well, I have been getting pretty fed up with my visits (nothing serious btw) mainly because I hate the drive!

I suddenly realized I was sitting the itching to get back in my car for the drive home. I was actually disappointed when I tuned in to my road. I have done nearly 2000 miles now and still cant wait to get in the car each day!
