Just go MPSS, they last longer than most tyres, work well in all conditions and are good on heavier cars.

You pay more initially but the longer life means in the long run you pay no extra and get to enjoy the extra performance and grip on offer in all conditions over the Pzero.

From the tyre testing I have done I would say out of 10:

Pzero / MPSS
Dry: 7 / 8
Wet: 4 / 9
Feedback: 6 / 8
Lifespan: 5 / 8
Noise: 8 / 7
Comfort: 7 / 8
Cost: 5 / 5

A better wet tyre is the F1AS2 or V105, but they are worse in dry and the F1AS2 has poorer feedback and don't last as long.

Better dry tyres than MPSS you have to move towards a semi slick like R888, cup 2's, Pirelli Corsa or Trofeo, I have also tried all these as well, the cup and cup 2 is excellent, the Corsa/Trofeo best for lap times on dry track. But they are all poor to average in the wet.

For me my money goes on MPSS everytime if I can get it in the size for my car, otherwise I look at Advan V105 and F1AS2 for road use. If for track usage I go for cup 2's now everytime.
Appreciate that a lot thanks, my EB will be my DD and by the sounds of it the pzeros are pretty useless outside of summer months.

I reckon that in the wet at the moment, my Mrs in her Renault Captur could stay with me. I am scared of the far right peddle when the roads are anything around or above, slightly damp.

But in the dry.........I would take anyone and anything on!
Same here & my missus has a captur too :)
Roads are greasy & wet constantly, me no likey

The Pilot SuperSports have got a VERY good reputation. I did try & find some for my new wheels but 1. I couldn't find a supplier with both the sizes I needed in stock and 2. the guy at HRE recommended me some Vredestein Ultrac Vortis saying they were almost as good as the Michelins but about 30% cheaper.

I shall see very soon.....:headbang:

Don't quite understand the ratings you give out of 10, I assume the wet for instance is between 4 and 9 out of 10? Also no mention of warm/cold.

Unless the OP is going to track and or properly warm up their tyres, the stock will be ok for DD.

Guess I'll be driving Miss Daisy

You can get Falkens in the Mustang GT sizes. I can't fault them on my Beemer, exceptional in the wet but then it only has 175 horses.

My first replacement of factory tyres on any car I've had have always been Falken. They've always been brilliant for me, never had a performance car though

Ive tried the FK453 and the semi slick RS-R, the RS-R is a good cheap dry track tyre, but its frankly poor on the road and terrible in the wet.

The FK453 for the money is good, but a tyre like the MPSS absolutely out performs it in every segment by some margin. Infact I'd rate the Pzero our car comes with as superior to the FK453.

Not sure on other Falken tyre models as only have experience of the FK452, 453 and RS-R's. :)

It was the FK452 I put on my S60, 23000 mile on and they still had 4mm tread left. The stock sportcontact 3 lasted 10000.

Isn't there a sporty 913 or 912 Falken?

With the exception of a straight flat-out drag race or braking contest (and even that can be misleading) there are far too many potential variables to judge one car against another on the public highway.

Plus (and ignoring the obvious legal issues!), to drive any car as fast as it will go on normal roads you'd need to be clinically insane (unless maybe you're in Wales or Scotland on one of those wide open roads where you can see for miles and the only person you're going to kill is yourself). I can't/won't even drive my chronically under-powered 1.5 litre A-Class at maximum attack, so how on earth can you ever drive anything with over, say, 250bhp at the limit? Therefore any attempt at a comparison is meaningless unless you're on a race track in some kind of controlled environment. That's not to say you can't have fun on the road though! :)

I'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks like this. I like to give it some every now and again when its safe to do so, but when conditions are bad i'll just slow down. Stock tyres will do me until at least next winter.

When replacing the tyres however i'll be listening to those with experience

That's the thoughts i'm going with, i'm not going to be using my car as a race car by any stretch of the imagination, as long as the pzeros will 'suffice' in wet conditions i'll be fine. I don't plan on hammering the accelerator round corners, so i don't expect to have a tailend pulling out. That being said, never drove a RWD outside of a track and in perfect conditions before :eyebulge:
