Yes, it will work with the spacer but the AA is the better, easier option. Dealing with the spacer on the side of a dark road at night would be a real pain in the neck. The AA costs a few dollars more but worth it when you need it.

The other option, although a PITA, is to use the Ford factory spare.
If you get a rear flat, golden.
Front flat, put the good rear on the front and the spare on the back.
Depends on your pain threshold.

Also depends on the wheels you are running now

modern uses an 18 inch rim, AA a 19 inch rim. Guess the overall diameter is the same but the 18 needs the spacer for the front. Am I correct?
getting prices from both now. Modern has a $20 coupon. $48 shipping.
awaiting AA for quotes.

so I broke down and ordered the better kit from AA. $499 shipped. It shipped out right away.
I will report back on this.
No spacer needed and a 19 inch rim instead of 18.
