Today I got to the parking lot after work, got in my car and headed home like every other weekday night. It was dark out when I got in my car and my car is black so I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. When I got home and pulled in my garage, I noticed when I got out that my front bumper on the drivers side was hit. My car was pristine this morning so it must have happened in the parking lot when someone was pulling out.
Pretty bummed since I only have 3000 miles on the car.

Judging by the damage, it was way more than a love tap. I am pissed, not so much for the car (it can be fixed) but the thought that some people walk around this earth with no moral compass or any sense of what's right or wrong. It just burns me up that whoever did this just felt okay to take off.
Well, tonight my only wish is for cosmic karma to visit this perp.

I have a $1500 deductible...do you think the damage in the pics is more or less? There is some paint scuff marks which I'm not entirely sure if it can be buffed out or needs new paint.

Definitely more... probably 3k or so.... Any cameras in the parking lot? Call the cops and make a report anyway. Then call your ins. co. In this case I wouldn't have a deductible....

I already filed a claim and so far they said I do not need a police report at this time. I think I'm going to file one anyway just in case. Its an outdoor lot so I need try to talk to one of the attendants tomorrow but I don't think Ive seen any cameras around. Huge bummer right before Xmas.

I agree with the 2nd post, look for security cameras and do a police report. Is it strictly employee parking? I would doubt they drive the same vehicle tomorrow, unless it's their only vehicle.

It's a park and lock lot. There's only one attendant at the gates and they leave in the evenings. Going to find out if there's cameras.

Had my front end replaced and it was like 1150 or so, happened in the first month when a family member backed into it when I took it over to show them.

You have cracked plastic so they're replacing that whole thing.

Look into the security camera availability ASAP. Even if there are cameras, some of those things are on a loop and record over footage after a VERY short period of time. Some places will only allow an investigating officer to view the video.

Definitely going to be over $1,500...

Did you park near other vehicles?

IF the extent of the damage is just the bumper. eBay has a company that sells takeoff bumpers for $450 with the PP splitter.

Just look for the offending vehicle tomorrow (or next week) - it will most likely have your color paint and matching damages...

There's always front bumper covers on eBay in all factory colors, seen just the bare cover alone without any pieces as well as full covers including all pieces (grilles, splitter, fog bezels, etc).

Similar thing happen to me with the bumper cover about 2 weeks ago. Was able to find a take off on ebay with matching color for around $250.

it takes 20 mins to take a bumper off. a few 10 mm screws and a few 6mm. really easy. look on ebay and get a new bumper for less than $500. call the insurance company and tell them to disregard. keep the vin number from being tagged with an accident with front end damage. hurt you in the long run if you decide to sell.
