I hope I'm not repeating any questions that have been asked already. I've been looking around on the forum, but couldn't find many answers to all my questions. I just got back from an EB test drive not too long ago, and am looking to order a MY17 Grabber Blue EB PP more than likely. My questions are as follows:

1. Even though the PP comes with 3.55, would 3.73 offer better or worthwhile acceleration gains over the former? Would the car require a tune for the gears, and could a dealership tune or re-tune for the gearing if done at a dealership?

2. I do plan on modding the car if I go the EB route (exhaust, downpipe, IC, intake, tune, ect.). What's the general consensus on what the motor can take reliably before blowing up? Not that I want extreme power or anything like that, but I'd like to know what the safe limit is if it's been determined to some degree. I'm thinking I'd like to be at 350whp/350wtrq, which would be good enough balance for daily driving and spirited driving.:D

3. I'd also like to lower the car as well. With the PP suspension, what would be a good complementing spring set that improves handling, but isn't overly harsh? I was looking at the Ford Racing street or track springs. If anyone has experience with those springs or any others, I'd greatly appreciate some insight.

If I've any more questions that come to mind, I'll update the OP. Thanks!

Adam at tune plus had well over 400rwhp on the stock block and no issues, it all depends on if you do it right and take care of the car. No lspi, change your oil frequently. The PP is well worth the money and you don't need 3.73 gears, the 3.55 are perfect for this car. Steeda makes great stuff for suspension, eibach, and BMR are some of my favs. You can easily get to those numbers with all bolt ons, especially the TQ.

This is going to sound really novice, but what's LSPI?

Not novice, but there are tons of threads dedicated to the subject that can explain it in way better detail then I ever could, under the search. Type in lspi and it should come up

Low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI), also known as stochastic pre-ignition (SPI),[1] is a pre-ignition event that occurs in gasoline vehicle engines when there is a premature ignition of the main fuel charge.[2] LSPI is most common in certain turbocharged direct-injection vehicles operating in low-speed and high-load driving conditions.[3]
LSPI events are random and infrequent, and their effects on impacted vehicles can include very high-pressure spikes, loud knocking noises and sometimes catastrophic engine damage.[4]

4. What order should mods be done in, not including suspension? I've got a Focus ST now, and IC is usually the first thing I see ST owners change.

5. What would be a good exhaust setup that has no drone. Looking particularly at turbo backs and axleback/downpipe ?

I have been researching as well before I start doing engine mods, I am doing my cosmetics first like hood struts, tower brace, window tint and lowering springs.

I am then going to do intercooler, oil catch can, maybe an cai and then a performance tune.

Tunes should easily give you another 40-50hp and about 90-100lb torque.

I am still researching springs, it looks like for my street driving I need progressive street springs, to me track or competition springs would be way to harsh but that's just me.

The thing that has me confused the most is the exhaust though, I am thinking y-pipe to replace the resonator and mufflers but I am still working it out, I want a little bit of a low rumble but no snap, crackle, pop, harshness or drone, does that exist for the ecoboost, who knows?, lol

I would first get some good spark plugs. Like NGK or the Denso's that Adam sells (http://adamtuned.com/collections/20...spark-plugs-pre-gapped-to-tune-specs-set-of-4) Then if I got to start over I would have gone in this order: catch can, tune, intercooler, wastegate actuator, catback exhaust, downpipe, then intake.

As for a good exhaust setup, I personally recommend Solo Performance but that's strictly preference/opinion. I think most aftermarket exhausts will give you similar performance gains.

Oddly enough I have the same performance goals. I did put a set of all seasons on the car to get me through the winter.

For exhaust, I went with the Manaflow Street catback. I wanted a little lower and slightly aggressive sound but not obnoxious and no drone. I'd be very careful with downpipes and stick with ones with a cat. Most of our exhaust restriction is in the downpipe so 2 considerations, you'll probably want a tune if you do replace it and second the noise level. There's an exhaust sticky that has lots of videos to get an idea. The Magnaflow Street catback was extremely easy to install too.

1.) I've had the base gears on my old turbo and now I have the 3.55's on my current one. I miss the longer gear ratio, especially for the turbocharger. The lower gears are better for this motor. I can't even imagine 3.73s around town...ugh

2.) 350hp/400tq is a good benchmark you could stick at for a long while. Stock block can handle 500HP for at least a little while. Adam Brunson at Tune+ (who also tunes me) is pretty good at balancing power and sticking close to what he knows to be safe. Its easy to tune past psychotic torque numbers on this car even on the stock turbo so its good to stick close to 400 if you want long term reliability.

3.) Steeda linear springs combined with either a set of Koni yellow shocks or the Ford Racing shocks is what's going on my PP suspension. The suspension will be reworked and its way cheaper than a set of coil overs. Made my decision after reading the suspension thread by MustangCollector in the suspension section. I want that 'M3' type of suspension feel which the stock suspension is not even close. I had Steeda progressives on my old car. They were good but this car needs a good linear spring setup.

Lastly, be smart. Get an intercooler before tuning and pumping the boost up.

Leave the gears where they are. Turbo likes being loaded with lower ratio rear end.

I have a PP car, unlike the others that are telling not to go to 3.73's, I'm gonna say do it. Well worth it, made my car much better in town and on the Freeway (I have MT). I used Steeda springs and the car looks good, rides a little firmer but I like it. Tons of threads about mods. Good luck

I finally decided that I'd like to go with a Ford Racing catback, but I'm unsure of whether or not touring or sport would be right for me. I want the car to sound raw and aggressive, with crackles and pops, but I don't want to be the loudest EB especially if I add a catted downpipe down the road. I'm not entirely sure how much more a catted downpipe will affect sound.

Check MBRP Street / Race versions then. My race is on the way. Very deep tone, conservative in low rpm cruising, loud and aggressive when you want it.
