I might be going crazy but does anyone know what size socket to use for this ground wire bolt. I've tried them all and they either don't fit or slip when turning. I saw a video where they said 8mm but that one just slips.

Is your socket all wallered out? Not sure what size it is but it’s gotta be something! Try an 8mm box wrench and see if it’ll grab.
I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a metric of some size but you might try a few SAE if nothing seems to fit.

No it looks completely new.

I placed a ground on a metal bolt behind the kick panel. Any thoughts on if this would work?

I wondered if someone used a SAE bolt instead of metric, but it has the 10.9 on the head so you're in the right league.
I have had sockets a given nominal size from different sets that had significantly different dimensions, resulting in the problem you have. So I would go with what @PSI said...possibly a socket issue instead of a bolt head issue.

Thanks for the input. I ended up using that large bolt in the picture above. Worked mint gauges fired right up, and 100 times easier to get big hands into.

Thank you for the fast responses.

Probably not helpful for this post but Ford is bad about using fasteners with 5.5mm heads. Had to order a couple of 5.5mm sockets because nothing I had would fit.
