Smoke test doesn't always work

As the title states. Operating pressure of the smoke machine wasn't enough to detect a injector o-ring leak. Had some surging problems at a steady state RPM. at my wits end i checked the rings. Garbage but enough to seal the smoke test. Old rings compared to the new ones. And that clown tuner of mine insisted everything was good. Changed them and everything is a right as rain.
