I posted this in the Raxiom unit thread, and figured this may be a good place to post here too.

I like to think for the future, and how I can help myself down the road. With that in mind, I'll mention a couple things I did during this install that I think everyone can benefit from.

While the trim was out, I took .5" door insulation and stuck it all over the area that the trim clips into. This was to prevent creeks, rattles or pops that the plastic trim makes.

Additionally, I put a strip of black electrical tape around the clips so they don't rattle around, or break and fall into the dashboard. This will also make it easier if I have to pull the trim out again.

Time Issues & Time Zones

I saw a lot of guy guessing why the time jumps an hour ahead or behind, so I thought I'd explain why;

This happens due to a missing option in the software for the unit, which is DST (Daylight Saving Time)

What is DST?
Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of setting the clocks forward one hour from standard time during the summer months, and back again in the fall, in order to make better use of natural daylight.

So this option being always turned on or off by default on the unit without the ability to change is the reason why people are having issues with their units, and as usual sellers of the unit had no clue about this.

How to fix it?
Take a look at this website: http://www.worldtimezone.com/

So if you have your time an hour ahead or before then you need to use the previous or next time zone setting that shows your real time on the map.

I thought all versions of Windows have the option to set DST?

So any news about the new software? Supposedly it was suppose to fix the time but from Moddiction's thread, it doesn't look like it fixes it.

It does not.. Gives you the option to use time from the unit vs Gps time, howed it stays frozen at whatever time you set it too

There's nothing wrong with the time except that it takes 10-20 second to get set correctly.

That is something wrong for me...lol. I am anal about these things.
I think XO is referring to the unmolested Sintegrate units.

Time on mine updates within 10 seconds after GPS locks in the signal.

Very Happy!!!

I've been waiting a week to make this post, until my unit was installed, and fully running, without too many glitches. I can't overstate to anyone reading this, how happy I am with this unit, which I bought from "X0AYHAM0X." The front-loading slot, and NextGen Nav software, in and of themselves, are enough to justify the small amount of additional cost involved. I'll get to Ayham's "support," in a moment.

Not only did I look over the little booklet that comes with the unit, I watched both the OEMRadio and Rosen installation videos, twice each. Even so, I had several questions along the way, including wiring, harness placement, and the like. More on this below. Finally got it in, and running (after initially forgetting my car key in the house, and trying to start engine without it). Seeing the new 8" screen in operation, and listening to the radio, I made the rookie mistake of stupidly reinstalling the long vent trim piece prematurely. It wasn't until later that I discovered that I had no power to the buttons beneath the screen (other than ignition). Ayham quickly diagnosed the problem (loose connection), and I ripped it all out yesterday morning, and re-installed the lower pin connectors. Boom! All good!

I need to acknowledge members Redraven571 (Joe) and Rvlyssup (Randy). They both were there via text, responding to my stupid questions regarding installation and settings. Joe didn't even laugh too hard at me, when I left the key inside and thought my car wouldn't start (AAA service call canceled, lol).

I cannot begin to tell everyone how helpful and available Ayham has been, throughout the process. Communicating via "What'sApp", he answered every question, and assisted with every problem. You all see how he helps everyone else on this site--even those who don't buy from him. Anyone considering buying one of these units should hit him up--it's worth every penny. Six (6) days from Abu Dhabi to Los Angeles is not too shabby. He even called me twice, on his "dime" with support. As someone said above, he really is "The Man." Hard to believe in this day and age, that someone could actually be so giving. You won't be disappointed.

Michael

P.S. Here's a pic of the unit, installed:

Hi Michael, glad you got it up and running, it's a "pay it forward" deal, glad I could help, based on my own goofs.

Nice post. I'd be lost without some guys on this site (which I didn't even buy units from) like X0AYHAM0X, OEMRadio that answered questions and assisted. Not to mention the guys in the install thread like RedRaven, where we all got to bounce ideas and troubleshooting of of. Great forum and members.

Edit I'd like to mention Moddiction has reached out and helped also and offered fixes and updates. I know he catches a lot of crap since he's a vendor of the unit but he has done what he can not being a software guy himself.

Hey, if you were to ground the unit, would you be able to play video while in motion like how you would with after market kits? I did this in my 12 when I went with the ADS Maestro kit. Instead of letting it hook up to the e-brake, I just grounded it and I could watch porn while in motion...just wondering if this works with this unit?
