I have a person with a 2015 that's willing to trade me for their navigation head unit for my stock unit. Are there any type of issues that I might run into?

Can you clarify more on why he is willing swap?

I don't want to blast him just yet, until I hear this explanation

You will need to swap more then the unit, I am pretty sure there is se computer stuffs that are required as well. You may call a ford parts counter and see if they have any more clarification before you start that project.

The HVAC controls won't work right. The radio, a/c, and traction toggles are all one circuit board

They actually might. You will not have dual zone climate function but as long as you have the headunit and bezel it might allow for manual temp adjustment via the drivers side controls. This is what happened on the 10-14's when swapping in the factory navigation.

The real question is whether or not the dash wiring harnesses are compatible. Again on the 10-14 gen in order to swap nav in you also needed the entire dash harness. We might have gotten lucky with the 15 in that the screen/nav is now part of the premium package instead of a low volume electronics package like the previous gen. Much more likely to make a separate harness (extra circuits) for a low volume option then for a mass produced feature.

The harness is the only real issue I see you running into. But if you don't mind us by asking, why is someone trading a nav system for the base radio?

I can't understand why anyone would want to make a trade like that.

By your stock unit do you mean yours just doesn't have navigation or do you have the 4.3' unit?

Didn't catch that. If you do have a premium then it should be a straight forward swap. The only issue I would see is needing the sd card reader for maps.
