Sidewall flex oddity

Not a Mustang (but still a Ford); I found this sidewall flex interesting.
The right front tire is still inflated and I see no apparent damage to the rim... yet look at the amount of sidewall flex that occurred.

Judging from the side damage scuffing on the wheel, I'd hazard a guess that tire went flat during the collision and was re-inflated.

Great guess... but no, the vehicle was put on a flat bed wrecker and taken directly to the insurance holding lot where access is strictly prohibited and no work on vehicles is permitted.

Good point, but that is a plastic wheel cover has scratches and the metallic rim below is virtually undamaged. The damage I would expect to see that would be significant enough to fold the side wall all the way around to contact the rim, should have left more evidence of an impact of some kind.

I don't know anything about the collision of this vehicle... I was there for an investigation on another vehicle and just noticed this vehicle and the tire imprint.
