Hi,

I recently installed Flow Designs front and rear splitters/diffusers on my GT/CS. I'm looking for your opinion about adding side skirt extensions. Let the Forum decide! Thanks!

Someone just linked I think the GT500 side skirt/extensions combo I believe the other day from american muscle and I wish I'd have gotten that on my Mach 1. I have the front ZL1 rock guards and GT500 side skirt extensions but original side skirts on the car. I really like how it looks and I like the rear diffuser you added, looks great on the car as well as the front splitter.

Personally yes. I like a balanced line of aero so if front/rear are aggressive then I think the sides need to match. I did gt500 extensions on my Mach 1 and really helps it flow.

Gt500/350 got aggressive front/sides/rear

Mach 1 didn't get sides and felt it was off.

Do you have a straight shot of the car from the front? I wanna see what it looks like!

Do these help? A straight on shot you really don't see them. I have a ton more I can dig through to help.

I love my side skirt extension...flows well with my front lip.spliiter and rear quarter spliiters. flows very very well in my opinion
Mine is basically like yours, Stephen, as I prefer to have the lower feature lines of the front and side splitters to be at the same level. But then, everyone has his/her own taste. So do what YOU want, Craig, and I'll enjoy looking at it regardless of your choice.

A big Thanks to everyone! The Forum has overwhelmingly endorsed adding side extensions, so that's what I'm going to do. I'm also looking into slightly wider tires, and that necessarily requires a new set of wheels. (Thanks to Ford for 8.5" stock wheels). These Mustangs are addictive money pits! (No complaints, though!)

Greetings fellow Forum members!

I'm happy to finally report back on my side skirt extension question. I've installed the Flow Designs full ground aero package at this point, including adding the side skirt extensions. Your advice to add them was spot on! Like the rest of the Flow kit, they are a subtle but nicely aggressive addition. I'm very pleased with the result.

I must, however, also share some not-so-good feedback on installing the sides. They attach to the OEM skirts with 10 bolts and ten petal/jack nuts on each side. You hold the extensions in place, mark all of the bolt locations and drill ten 11mm (3/8 inch) holes on the underside of each OEM skirt. Then the fun begins. They provide a 'compression tool' that's supposed to hold each jack nut in place while you tighten up a bolt to compress the nut. Once all of them are fully compressed and locked into place, you install the extensions. The problem is that the compression tool won't hold the nuts, so they spin rather than tightening unless you modify the tool. In addition, the single bolt provided for the compression step eventually galls, locks up in the jack nut while compressing and destroys the nut. And, you guessed it, they only provide exactly 20 nuts in the kit. I went through a total of 27 nuts to get them all properly seated. All of this took about 12 hours of screwing around to do the job. I'd rather have a tooth pulled than ever do this job again.

So, while the result is really nice (super strong materials and fairly well engineered), be prepared for a frustrating side extension installation.
Thanks again for your input on this small project!

Hey this is Junior from N4SM, I have the side skirt extensions on my car and I think they look great. They match and complete the look of the car with a front lip/splitter and rear diffuser.

I'm not usually a fan for a red car but yours is stunning. The low white stripe and silver wheels really work. You're absolutely right about the side extensions!
