Yes if you plan to seriously mod your car this would be a good upgrade. For example, if you were going to do full bolt ons and a tune this would go nicely with that but if you were going to do just an exhaust and intake then there would be no point in upgrading the driveshaft. Also I heard the driveshaft on the v6 is weak but I'm not sure if it's true or not.

Even if I'm not planning to drive 125+ mph, I hate having such a low speed limiter.
I wish there was an official explanation / research about what's driving this limit.

Driveshaft?
Tires?
Marketing?

Yeah I hated it too but a tune removes the limiter. I'm not really sure the reason of the limiter I assuming it's for safety. I don't really buy into the tires being the cause because many people go over the speed rating of them and nothing happens.

Will a carbon driveshaft improve MPG? Performance?

There is a video out there, can't seem to find it of 2010-14 V6 going about maybe 135. It didn't take long for the driveshaft to break. I'm gonna take a wild swing here and just say there reason we can't go over 121MPH is because out driveshaft can't handle it.

EDIT: Found the sucker. [ame]

Yes, that was about 2011 Mustang.
2012+ Ford did improve it, but not as much as we may want.

Wondering which one has the 2015 and in any case if it make sense to upgrade. Not just about top speed, but 20 pounds less driveshaft has an impact on acceleration.

If you want to increase the speed limit or add big power with nitrous, supercharger, turbo, etc, yes its definitely worth doing to save really big, expensive repairs, much less the effect on safety when the driveshaft fails. If you intend to race the car, you'd also want to add a driveshaft safety loop.

We have these available for autos and manuals, we did all the fitment testing for the manufacturers.

Comparison pic of driveshafts and the safety loop attached.

Love it

We installed the Driveshaftshop 1000hp carbon fiber driveshaft and their 800hp halfshafts on our car. Not that our stock pieces failed but more of a precaution for the amount of power we're making and that the car is driven hard at the strip.

No sense it spending all of the time to take the car to the track just for it to break on the first run and then get loaded back into the trailer.

You learn from experience that it's better to build it before it breaks.

Are you getting a procharger? Outside of those power levels I wouldn't consider touching the drive shaft. You'll also need better tires to increase the speed. At that point you'll be thinking about better, wider wheels etc or drag wheels+ slicks. Honestly, unless you are racing this thing on huge straightaways where attaining that speed is even possible I wouldn't bother. If you are naturally aspirated and just driving this as non-serious fun car it would be better to spend cash elsewhere like exhaust.

I agree, the point is that in one year I will be back in Europe, as as you know we have some roads there without speed limit.

Planning

+ Exhaust (Axle back)
+ Air intake
+ Springs
+ Gt front Brakes
+ Wheels
+ Tune

(If i don't find some nice PP wheels I will probably go with Track Lite of 18' - 19 pounds each)

The V6 and the GT share the same basic ds with just a few parts difference.

The base GT has a 155mph limiter and the EB PP has a 145mph limiter and the base EB and V6 has a 121mph limiter. This would make me think the difference it tires except the base GT can have the same tires as the V6 and still have the higher limiter so

I've see the video on the driveshaft coming apart so what part lets loose on the driveshaft were the two join together? Does anybody know if a after market going to have a replacement for the part that lets loose other than replacing the hole driveshaft the only thing I'm looking for is running at 140 mph not racing. before I got the Mustang I had a crossfire that did 160 mph and like to get back to that speed.
