I have a 2016 GT PP with 12K on it, stock except exhaust. I am new to the Mustang world, most of my experience is with old small cheap cars. I have only done one track day at gingerman raceway and pretty much finished off my rear tires, which I replaced with identical tires. The fronts, however, look fine except for the fact that my inner tread block is rounded off on both sides. I have included a picture to try and show this. What could have caused this? I can't remember what psi I was running hot, maybe mid to high 30's. Should I replace them? Any help is greatly appreciated.

They seem ok to me. Looks like you have plenty of meat left on there. Front tires on a RWD car will usually last around twice as long as the rear, so it makes sense that they're fine.

I can't make out any wear bars in the picture, but I wouldn't worry about replacing them until the tread is nearly even with the wear bars, or if you start feeling a decrease in grip/performance.

The inner tread block shape is a little strange, I would check to make sure your pressure is in spec.

What tires are you planning on replacing them with? You can certainly get tires better than the Pirellis the car came with, both in performance and treadwear. I would recommend MPSS/MP4S if you're sticking with a summer tire, or DWS06 if you need an All season.

Thank you for the advice. This is my summer daily driver, so I was hoping to use up the used fronts and new rears at the same time before finding GT350 wheels. I guess I'll just keep an eye on the fronts under track use and hope they don't cord along that weird middle spot.

i agree with ahl395, but i think wear in the middle of the tire indicates overpressure.. let a few pounds out

Ya so that center rib wear is common if you run those PZeros hard at the track (or autox). Certain other tires will do that too. Its not really a problem running them at different pressures would have solved.

If its just the center rib just keep running them daily until they're too hard/slippery or until you chord them or hit the wear bars.

When you do replace tires again, maybe try some other type of tire other than PZeros. They just dont seem to last as long as other tires :/

Besides your track use I think a lot of us on the PP cars with PZero's found (or find) that the fronts last longer than the rears. Besides air pressure tweaks I think your tires look OK for now.

Thank you all for the information. I feel much better. I am used to tires not lasting long, so I thought 12K for rears was a lot. Although I instructed a guy with a gt350 and those pilots were impressive considering a 300 treadware.

I dont track my car, just drive it hard on the street. But even being supercharged and spinning tires all the time my rear MPSS lasted ~24k miles. And the fronts look almost new.

Pretty damn impressive considering the rated treadlife is only 30k! And they usually say half that in the rear of a RWD car.

Very happy with the MPSS, excited to try the new MP4S.
