Should I port my Zenclosure box?

So I installed my Zenclosure box with 2 10" front firing subs. With the rear seats up, the base sound is much less that with them down, I didn't expect that. I don't know if rear firing subs would make a difference or not.

I am wondering if I was to port the box on the top side so that the pressure goes through the rear deck of the car to the passenger compartment if that would make it better. Not thrilled with my set up at all.

Ideas? Comments?

I'd remove the rear speakers to give the bass a way to get into the cabin. Rear speakers aren't going to be noticed, really.

Making an enclosure a ported enclosure is much more involved than adding a hole in it.. And you want the port to be on the same side of the enclosure as the woofer.. If you only send the port through the rear deck you are accomplishing nothing.. You would want a band pass if you want all of the output to be sent into the cabin..

The port depends on the subs.. I use a software program to determine the proper port size.. You have an enclosure for a 2 woofers.. To go ported you would probably only have enough air space for a single woofer ported..

Well that sucks. I did front firing so I could put my hockey gear in the back and not wreck the subs. May just end up getting another box and selling this one.

You can try and just unlatch the back seats.. Not fold them down all the way.. But just pull them a little.. Might help some

The good thing is the Zenclosures box is inexpensive, it's not like it was $900 JL.

That's why I asked what subs. This should be a non issue with anything of decent quality.

They are JL Audio subs, not high end for sure.

It would probably be cheaper and easier to just replace with better subs. Unless your amp is insufficient?
