Well after seven months I've decided that I want to try something else. Sorted out a newish 991. Should prove very different.

The Mustang was an itch that I needed to scratch and I'd always resisted when they were lhd only.

Have a load of bits to sell off which I will put in the relevant section.

The Mustang for me showed both good and bad. Everyone loved it, but to drive it's just a big old Hector and even with upgraded chassis and suspension it still really wasn't the incisive instrument I thought it should be. Ford for their part have generally awful dealers and parts supply is woeful, but my lasting impression is that it was good fun. Not antiseptic like some other marques.

At least you gave it a go, I'd say it's a bit more than an 'old Hector', I'd reserve that sort of description for a Rover 75

It's a GT cruiser, as you're no doubt aware, but, can be very capable in the mountain passes

Good luck with the Porker, a very different animal indeed :D

For me, when whoring it down a slip road then onto the motorway, it makes me feel like i'm going into battle against 500 Alien invaders from a distant world and you know what? The Mustang makes me feel like I could take the fuckers.

because everyone know what a beetle is and most people know about the chocolate engines they put in them ;)

To each their own. I love the attention it gets. Everybody wants to talk about it, heart it. A guy in a Ferrari pulled up next to me and was talking about how cool the car looked.

I love mine.

Good luck with the 991! What parts are you looking at selling?

If all tastes were the same and cars were about just getting from A to B we'd all be driving identical Vauxhall Corsa's god forgive. Thank god for the variety.

Good luck with your new car M8 and enjoy

You do realise that no one will let you out on a junction. That does not happen in a Mustang.

That was a typo. Should have been 997.1.
Lovely cars but we thought it had insufficient rear seat and boot space for our needs with small kids. The mustang just about manages. If I didn't need the rear space I would be sorely torn between the (used) Porsche the XKR or the DB9. The head would probably choose a carrera 2s

Make sure you get the engine boroscoped, the 997.1 is a truly incredible car to drive, this was when Porsche had the steering at its best (hydraulic) and once your used to the rear engine layout and you get some good tyres on it you will be gob smacked at the traction even in the pooring rain, a Mustang would not see what direction you went in wet conditions.

However the 997.1 have chocolate engines, hence the boroscope, its not a case of if, but when so do get it checked, if its being rebuilt by a specialist like Hartech then all is well as they put new liners / sleaves in that remedy the mistake Porsche made. Apart from that great things, just lacking a but of grunt, though in the real world they are no slower as they put power down better and loose less through transmission and of course they are pretty light at around 1400kg. :)

Enjoy it!
