Shift warning lights and rpm limit setting

Hi there

I've noticed on my car that unlike the American cars the gauges do not turn red for when its time to change gear, I've being all the way to 7000rpm and no colour change. My dash is set to blue.

I also cannot find where you can change the rpm limit for gear shift light. I've found line lock, launch control etc but cannot find this.

Do the UK cars have this feature?

This is possibly a silly question but if we don't have the gauges changing colour to change gear, what use is being able to change the shift limit? Or have I missed the shift light as I don't think mine's been over 6500rpm?

RPM limiter you probably won't be able to change without going into the ECU, no?

That's what I'm talking about: the gauges are supposed to change colour at the redline but you say they don't, so unless there's another "shiftlight" (that I've not noticed or know about) what use is being able to change the limit where it activates?

Mine change colour into the redline - they go red I recall. Only done it once as I still feel I'm 'running in' the engine, as I'm stuck in the 1980s

There's a green up/forward arrow that appears from time to time, which I think might be a shift indicator.

I still haven't got around to reading the manual. Its on my to-do list.

At the risk of getting a "read the manual" response, is there any way to turn off the central display (e.g. trip computer, between the two dials)? When driving in the dark, you change the dials to a nice dull red or orange but then have this really off-putting, white text in the centre. Its not as if any of this info is absolutely necessary either.

I have noticed the gauges on my 5.0 Auto go red a couple times when giving full beans. I can't give any more details as I was concentrating too much on the road to look down at the gauges.

OK guess my car must have it then, maybe have to be WOT to trigger it, but can anyone else find the menu setting in the car where you can adjust the rpm indicator for when the dials go red? I simply cannot find it. :(

as I understand it, there isn't an adjustment setting for this - it simply goes red when you approach/reach max revs.

I know some cars have "shift lights" for either maximum economy or maximum power, but I think the mustang is just a "warning" indicator.

Have seen the green "shift up" arrow appear so I know that works but havent seen the gauges turn red (I use white as my dash colour) but I havent been giving it the beans much.

I don't recall reading about this before; where does this appear - in the central screen between the gauges? I presume this in an "economy aid". I presume this is on manuals only - I am getting an EB auto.

It appears at the end of the odometer reading and I can't find anything about it in the manual either as it was annoying me as I couldn't work out exactly what made it appear/disappear.

I THINK it is a shiftlight of sorts but for efficency rather than power.

Same here, I will try to look next time but like you, I am usually concentrating too much on the fast approaching bend or whatever other hazard there is!!!

Yeah still not noticed it to be honest, maybe it has to be dark so the mycolour dash is on but I am finding in daylight nothing seems to happen.

Yes I get the green up arrow in the centre display which is just for best economy, hgence why it has you changing gear around 1500-2000rpm all the time in the V8.
