Hey ya'll - I'm still waiting for my shift knob to be made and sent to me from speed dawg. They said about 3-4 weeks. Meanwhile I picked up this thread lock. Should I use this or this is a no no for our shifter?

pretty straight forward. The ones that say 11-16 need an adapter. The ones that say 15-16 dont need the adapter. I got an 11-6 as a gift. I emailed cj and they were very cool with just having me send it back and swap it out for the one with the hollowed out bottom.

i don't know why people even buy from CJPP in this case.

These are all made and sold by Epco. CJPP is just a reseller, and their site sucks ass for this kinda thing. also their limited on colors/combos.

EPCO can do freaking anything. I have a totally custom ordered one coming for my car that should arrive tomorrow. It's Ruby Red like the car, but all the graphics and stripes on the knob will be white. The only options on speeddawg.com or CJPP is the ruby red but with grey or black graphics. eff that. black doesn't contrast very well at all.

if epco's archaic ordering form process isn't your thing, I'd otherwise recommend http://www.speeddawg.com - they're a reseller of Epco's stuff but their site is a lot more fluid and easier to find what you want and order it, as long as it's kinda standard and not a custom order like mine is going to be.

They have drop downs in the form where you can order a standard knob for like the last gen cars (and MGW) with the push down for reverse, or ones that work with the stock pull up for reverse. I had to custom order, as I have an MGW in my '16 and thus don't need the reverse pull up recessed into the knob anymore.
Thanks for the heads up on Epco! Ordered my white knob today with Ford Racing on the sides to top off my MGW when it gets here!

Question - Did you try just using the jam nut provided by MGW without the locktite? Just curious if the locktite is really necessary...

Thanks!

Well w/ the stock shift knob you have the reverse lockout that is recessed.

On my ST I happened to have a jamnut, and got lucky that when i put that on and then the shift knob just my lucky it randomly perfectly lined up.

On my Mustang, I didn't have one, and it seemed like random luck last time, so i had to use locktite.

But then I switched to a MGW shifter, and it has the push down reverse lockout, so I no longer have to deal with that stuff at all.

How is the MGW shifter by the way? I kinda wanna go for it simply for it cancels the dumb way ford used for the reverse lock out. Is the installation the biggest hassle?

it is so good that it literally changed my life for the better.

It should always be a required first mod on any mustang that is manual.
