The metra brackets do fit BUT they are too tall and once installed with the subs it will contact the cover. So I just made some custom brackets. Came up with an idea while at was at Walmart. I bought two cutting boards for $8 each. They extremely high quality and very very rigid. Measure the speaker diameter and started to cut sway. Came out really good. Is not a perfect round circle but it's close. Dont have a full garage with all the tools but my Dremel did the job.
These 6.5" subs sound very good. Nice bass and not boomy at all. I am running my JL jx500. My settings are 100hrtz, 5% gain and base boost off. You do have to download or have quality songs to get the best out of the song and the bass just like most stereos. Happy with the results.
Thanks for the update! I'm always listening to the exhaust or playing with the pops and gurgles so I never realized how lacking the stereo was until I saw this thread. The factory stereo is lacking now that I sit in my car under hibernation.
Does this upgrade really help that much?
On a scale of 1-10 what do you feel it is compared to stock?
You can get inpute from the speakers or better you can get a lci2 in order to properly setup your system. If you get the signal from the speakers directly to the amp you will loose bass as you turn up the volume. Factory deck does that so your speakers won't blow out. But if you have the lci2 you don't have to sorry about it. You can turn up the volume and your bass output will not decrease.
