Another thing to remember is that asking price doesn’t have to be selling price. I got my car in 2020. It was listed at $20k over on the dealer’s website. I paid $5k over when it was said and done. The only mods I’ve done is the Lethal Performance H-Pipe resonator delete and the CFTP front springs.

My GT500 is my first Mustang so I can't comment on the comparison with other Stangs. But I'm loving it and I get compliments almost every single day. People asking to take pictures at the gas station, rolling down their window on the freeway and giving thumbs up or even just start recording a video on their phone while walking on the streets.

As for mods, I think there's already traction issues with 760 HP. Unless you're going to be racing and/or wearing drag radials all the time, you may not need to mod. Plus you're going to blow a warranty on a $35K+ engine and transmission combo. Of course it's always tempting considering how easy to mod these cars are and how much the stock engine and transmission can take. Guess you have to determine if you'll actually be using the extra power (roll racing, drag radials) or just doing it for big numbers and bragging rights.

Currently have a 2015 GT convertible with lots of mods that I will keep, but decided it is time t get a GT500. Want to do auto cross and tour, not getting it for drag racing. Found a 2020 in the color I like 2 hours from home. It has the technology package and vinyl stripes. Any reason to stay away from a 2020? Alos a few 2022 around with Carbon fiber package for a lot more money.
I plan on holding onto the car for a few thousand miles of use per year and investment.
Looking for suggestions.

No issue’s with a 20 if its what your after. The spec and color. The only suggestion would be get a ford extended warranty for piece of mind if you want. Like most things get what you want and is line with your budget and enjoy it. I have a 16 vert as well with all kinds of mods to. If you’ve driven the 500 you know there is absolutely no similarities other then there mustangs. These are absolutely phenomenal cars. Post a pic when the deal is done!

There were a couple TSBs on 2020 models but that’s easy to check into. The only issue that seems to be recurring is trans leak where the coolant lines enter the trans at the fittings. There is a TSB for it where Ford will replace the fittings but some folks have had them leak too. SPE makes better fittings or a whole line kit replacement kit.

Otherwise the 2020-2022 models are all the same other than paint options so get what works for your budget and tastes.
