You don't have it set properly, it sounds awesome. I have owned cars 4 times the price and i can not get over how good this sounds. I use to own a recording studio in NYC and my family is in the music biz and I am huge audiophile. Forget MP3 and Ipod get good CD or high bit rate Flac files and play with your settings, also set to Driver mode not all seats, turn off compression and reduce bass below half way mark. just play around. I just sat and listened to CD for an hour in my driveway and it was great. Experiment and have fun.
I noticed the Drive Mode does sound much better also. What exactly does it do? I'm unable to find anything through Google...

I have a large collection of music in lossless .flac. Does the sync system natively read this format off a USB stick? Thanks!

No, it won't.

From the manual, page 366:

Mustang User Manual said:
SYNC is capable of hosting nearly any
digital media player, including iPod,
Zune™, plays from device players, and
most USB drives. Supported audio formats
include MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC.
The manual is available here: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/F...-Owners-Manual-version-1_om_EN-US_07_2014.pdf

Just FYI, WAV is a lossless format as well. It'll probably be annoying converting them, but at least it's possible to play lossless audio.

Anybody that is saying the pro system sound just ok needs to learn how to set it up. Best factory system I've heard. Worth the upgrade and I've had some big aftermarket systems .

thank you for agreeing with me. I also have built some very high end systems back in the late 80s and 90s all mcintosh, dynaudio, zapco etc. and i also think this is an incredible system stock. to get this bass response aftermarket would kill the entire trunk with sub boxes and amps. to achieve this efficiently through OEM design is so cool

No prob, I was also impressed with how far u car push the speakers before you hear any distortion. Before getting my car I was worried about it sounding like some said muddy, lol.....

Man I am really starting to think something is wrong with my shaker pro :(
May go to a dealership that has another car with shaker pro to compare.
Especially if some would call this an incredible stock stereo. Mine must have an issue.

How are your sound settings set up?

In the early 90's I spent a lot of time with car audio. I have a CD that was made by Alpine to test sound systems. It is called "Alpine speed of sound". It has 19 tracks that covers every possible range of audio. I cranked the volume up about 3/4 with all three equalizer settings maxed and I think the sound is great in the Shaker Pro. I see no need to change anything on it.

Now that I've had my car a few days and have spent some time with the Shaker Pro, I'd like to add to the discussion.

I played with car audio back in the 80's and 90's as well. I always built simple, clean systems that were aimed more at fidelity than volume, but my stuff was loud too. On top of that, I'm also a musician (classically trained guitarist in college, still play today). I think I have an ear for what sounds good and what doesn't. Today I do some work in sound reinforcement as well as technology. I'm not some crazy audiophile though, but I do appreciate quality sound.

First off, if the first thing you grab to test an audio system is the Flashdance soundtrack and an SPL meter, then you're going to be disappointed. It's not loud.

Well, let me rephrase... It's not loud in comparison to big systems. It's plenty loud enough for about 90% of the population out there.

Quality, though, is a different story. It's good, but not OMGWTFBBQ AMAZEBALLS good though. Mids are a bit thin, and highs lack sparkle, but overall it sounds really good, especially with a lossless source (like CD) as opposed to MP3 or Sirius. It is a bit over compressed for my tastes, but so is everything else nowadays. Low end is pretty nice as the sub never overpowers the system, but does a great job filling in the bottom. And setting the soundstage to Driver Only makes a HUGE difference. I have my EQ set with Bass about 2-3 notches from max, Mids about 1-2 bars above middle, and Highs a notch higher than Bass. This coupled with my choice in music (mostly rock and metal, with a bit of hip hop and dance-pop) seems to work really well.

If I could make any changes, I'd probably want to add some different processing, and maybe some more EQ at the head unit to try and liven up the highs.

Do I think the system is a good value? Coupled with the BLIS and memory seats at a cost of $1600, maybe?!? If you guesstimate the cost if it were a stand-alone option to be in the $800 range, and factor in that it's already in the car, and warrantied, then maybe it's more attractive. Do I regret buying it? Not at all, considering the fact that I've had 3 systems in previous cars stolen and that's less likely since this is factory installed. Would I buy it again if I had to redo my order? Probably, but I like BLIS and the memory seats as well. I'd probably pass if I were buying Recaros though.

It's definitely an improvement over the Shaker system in my 2011, and is also better than the factory system in my wife's Acura. However, it's not on par with a high end aftermarket system. But I didn't have to take my car apart to have it installed either. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who's a hardcore car audio guy though. It's a really good factory system, but not on the level of a high end system.

As read in another post. Should the sub enclosure be filled with polly fill? One said it makes a difference. Dont have my car yet.
