I'm sure there will be a clause in your insurance contract requiring your insured vehicle to be maintained in good order and condition, roadworthy, unmodified unless approved and noted by said insurance company and compliant with ADRs

This.

Good "get out" clause for the insurer in case of an accident

Someone here said that anything other than factory-installed options made it unroadworthy (or in violation of ADRs). In that case, wouldn't ANY mod do that?

The taillights do comply with ADRs in that they still show two brake lights when indicating. They're sequential when indicating with no brake applied.

I think it'd be a hard-nosed insurer that denied your claim based on this. In any case, if it's the rear lights that are damaged, then the accident won't be your fault - unless you reverse into something LOL. Conversely, if I rear-ended someone, then the tail lights would have absolutely no impact on the accident.

I will put the lights on the insurance seeing how I paid so much for them, but because ADRs allow for converted US Mustangs to retain their red indicators, I think I'd have the law on my side should it come to that.

Maybe write to your insurer and ask.
Insurance risk averted.
I did that regarding motorcycle riding in Vietnam. Although I am fully licensed motor cycle rider in Australia and hold an RACV International driving/riding permit, none of these are recognised in Vietnam.
To be legal in Vietnam, you need to hold a Vietnamese motorcycle licence.
When I pointed this out to my Australian medical insurer, they said unless I was complying with all local laws and requirements I would not be covered. Better to know beforehand rather than trying to organise it all from a medical evacuation aircraft.
