September 2016 Sales Numbers...Mustang. 6,429

Although GoodCarBadCar provides Canadian sales numbers fairly early each month their "Sporty Car Sales In Canada" report does not come out until fairly late in the month. There is generally a paragraph or two that summarizes how well the Mustang and Challenger are doing in Canada compared to the Camaro.

September was no exception.

Dodge Challenger sales more than doubled to 200 units – the Challenger leads the Camaro by 494 units so far this year. And sales of the Ford Mustang, Canada's top-selling sports coupe, jumped 24% to a class-leading 523 units, 65 more than the Camaro and Challenger combined."[/FONT]

General Motors Company’s (GM) Chevy Camaro outsold the Ford Mustang in September for the first time since October 2014. Total Chevy Camaro sales for the month were 6,577. Based on J.D. Power and Associates, Chevy Camaro incentives totaled $3,409 whereas Mustang incentives totaled $2,602 in September. These incentives might have played a role in the volume sales difference. It’s not as though the Chevy Camaro has been seeing sustainably higher demand. Chevy Camaro volume sales have declined 11.3% year to date on a year-over-year basis.

Check out these opening paragraphs from the latter article.

The Camaro's best numbers are only as good as the Mustang worst. That is not a good sign unless you are hanging on Chevy's coattail. That is plain old defeat... A 10 month old product can't knock off a nearly 3 year model without major incentives to get them moving.

This isn't over by far. Winter is rolling in and the car market is relaxed. Chevy was too late to the party and Ford reaped the profits.

250,000 Mustang's have been sold in 2 and a 1/2 model years.

50,000 Camaro's were sold in one...


That's 5 to 1 brother... not a good sign at all.

Well it's clear Ford has wrapped things up for the year while Chevy is having a fire sale to get ride of excess surplus.

Just checked Autonation Ford in Memphis where I purchased my F-150.

They have two dealerships in Memphis and between the two they have only 13 2016 Stangs and only one is a V8.
