"The downside is economy of around 20mpg at best. Here the 2.3T Ecoboost has the edge, with a figure that’s around 10mpg better."

Lost interest after that clearly well-researched tidbit.

"You should know by now that the V8 will struggle to better 20mpg."

Really? Mine is on 24MPG over 40K miles (with receipts to prove, 'cos I'm sad like that!) and as V8 owners will tell you, they do +30MPG on the motorway quite happily.

"Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 GT Bullitt: This special edition comes in Highland Green and has 10bhp extra (taking it to 453bhp), special alloys, better brakes and an open-air induction system."

Better brakes? Does it? :inspect:

MPG is of course subjective. Be interesting to hear what everybody current mpg is showing as (noted they are not always that accurate).

25.something for me, 24k miles. plenty of motorway miles as you can imagine with that number.
Covered 20k in the ecoboost too, although i seem to remember my average was around 31-32 when i sold it, so not quite “around 10 more mpg”. 6-7 more accurate based on my experience, hence moving to a GT was the only logical choice - 7mpg difference is nothing!

Mines averaged about 16 over the last 15 months, short trips here and there and rarely sees a motorway. But I didn’t buy it with mpg in mind :like:

It seems Autocar is being optimistic on MPG figures then!

on a motorway i can get 31 pretty easy though without any special changes to driving just 6th and being "sensible"

25/26 MPG - but I only really use it for long journeys... Around town I’ve seen 9 MPG on the trip computer!

I did a thousand mile plus holiday to and in Scotland and got 29. When I was commuting to work I got 27 (30 miles each way). Now I've retired its around 20 unless I make a big trip.

I've had quite a lot of experience driving both ecoboosts and GTs in Texas, each time doing about 1500 of mixed mileage. The EB is easily more efficient in town, but the constant gear changing wasn't nice. On the open road I don't think there was much in it, if any. (speed limit west Texas is 80mph!)

Like most, I bought the GT expecting low mileage - its part of the heritage!
