I've been debating whether or not to remove the resonators. Think I need to hear them side by side. Thanks for the info.

Both sound great, R just has a slight rasp/raw tone while the non R has a cleaner tone.

Out of all the colors that impressed me most, it was the yellow that changed my opinion. This yellow in person is much more appealing than on the net.
Drum, what were your thoughts on the Avalanche and DIB? I have seen the DIB on mustangs, but I hope the aggressiveness of the R really makes it pop..

Honestly, the AG was a turn off for me. It was my first color choice, now my second last, just barely ahead of CO. To me, AG doesn't define the dynamic shapes of the car.

I saw a DIB there but didn't go over and look at it in depth so I can't give much feedback.

First of all, let me thank Ford Performance for being lucky and blessed enough to attend the event. It was first class.

As for the cars...

The suspension is taut and pleasantly planted. No jarring, no wheel hop... The car was planted at all times. The sport cups chirped just a little when pressed hard by the instructors but otherwise grip was excellent. Turn in on this car is amazing... It's like point n shoot. As for the steering feeling "numb" I beg to differ. There is something to be said for a car that has electro-assist with Magneride. That may be why some people thought it to be numb as the suspension in the R soaks up so much scruff that a lot of the roughage in the track is not translated thru the column, in my experience.

The telescoping wheel was a welcome addition to the R for setting up a good racing position.

The torque is on demand and plentiful and the RPMs just keep coming. It is unreal how one's ear gets used to crossplane shift points and the necessary adjustment for this engine.

Sound under throttle is impressive, yet not obtrusive.

The Sport Cup 2's are absolutely amazing for a tire with a 180 treadwear.

I checked the fit n finish of these cars and even though they are pounded upon at these tracks they had pretty good fitment.

As for the Recaros, I was a little tight in the chair (6'1, 220) but it was pleasantly appreciated when under harder driving, especially when the instructors drove.

This car is impressive... Especially the R. I don't think any of us armchair racers will find its limits. The brakes alone were absolutely amazing and pedal feel was Transmitted through the pedal well. The pedals are correct for heel n toe.

As for oil temps, I saw no temps above 250 - 255*F before, during or after two hard laps by a professional race instructor.

My driving instructor was Bill Rhinehart who was absolutely a gentleman during educating me briefly on the track.

Thanks to Steve Amman for his assistance... Mark, the branding manager for the Mustang, who patiently answered all my crazy arse questions, and of course Jim Owens who was as passionate about a program as anyone could ever be. These guys put on a brilliant show that showcased their hard work in this product well.

Just to add to the above well detailed comments I was very fortunate to have been in both an R model and a GT350 Track Pack car today and I noticed a difference when it came to grip and adhesion especially on the tight corners and curves on this road course.

Obviously the 1/2" wider front and rear carbon fiber wheels on the R model along with softer compound Sport Cup 2 tires (180 treadwear rating vs 500 treadwear rating) and the slightly lower aspect ratio of the Michelin tires on the R car along with 60 pounds less of unsprung weight due to the use of carbon fiber wheels gave it a superior advantage on the track.

Having said that I can assure everyone that the GT350 Track Pack car is still wickedly fast especially in the hands of a seasoned driver as was the case with Nick who has had 25 years of racing experience at the Sebring race track.

I looked at the speedo on the long backstretch on one of our hot laps and could see we were doing between 135 MPH and 140 MPH and were pretty much at redline in 4th gear so as I mentioned this car is very fast.

Outstanding driving Nick and thanks for a great ride!

As much as I love the '12 & '13 Boss 302 cars the 2016 Shelby GT350 Track Pack and R model cars are a superior automobile to the Boss 302 in every aspect.

Having said that I can honestly say that I still enjoy the exhaust note of my Boss 302 cars just as much as these Shelby GT350 cars. The exhaust note on each of these cars is quite different but in either case the exhaust note is exhilorating to say the least and I can't wait to flip the toggle switch to engage the exhaust mode once my cars show up.

From a paint color standpoint I was quite surprized and impressed by how much better the Triple Yellow Tri-Coat looks in person and the only change I would have made to "PP003" would be the removal of the black stripes but would definitely keep the black roof on the all yellow car.

Lastly, I would like to thank Jim, Steve, Mark, Rob, Shawn and everyone else involved at Ford and their partner suppliers with respect to hosting this outstanding event. Very well organized with a lot of thought and preparation went into this final Track Tour event.

When I see the passion, dedication and the hard work of the whole Ford Team and then get to drive one of these outstanding new Shelby GT350's it just confirms once again why I have been a supporter of the Blue Oval Brand for almost 50 years.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT FORD! :hail:

Good review. My wife was there this afternoon. Bill was her instructor and she mentioned that she thought Bill didn't push it at all for her ride alone. While appreciative, she was a little disappointed. She should have told him she was on the Nurburgring two weeks ago (she was)..and maybe he wouldn't have held back ;)

I'll be there tomorrow.

Thanks for the reviews DrumReaper and PP0001. As good as the written reviews are, it's not as good, as the rest of you know.

I talked to PP0001 on the phone tonight and I will have to say that the conversation led to more excitement then both of your reviews could protray.

After the phone call, my wife wanted me to shut up. I couldn't stop talking about the conversation that I had.

I'm more excited about this car than ever! And I didn't think that could be possible.

Thanks PP0001
Now this wait is even more excruciating. At least I should have less than a month before its here! Hopefully?

Thanks for the write up PP0001. Sounds like maybe stickier tires and slightly lighter rims should help sharpen the standard 350 should it need it. Would have loved to attend one of these events. Lucky dogs you.

Definitely the tires... But the question of putting R wheels on a TP was posed to the team and they said that the TP Magneride was tuned to its wheels so they didn't know how/if the R wheels would compliment the TP system.

I had a feeling this could be an issue, especially to those getting an "R" and wanting to shelf the carbon fiber wheels and use aftermarket wheels

I'm here and waiting to get in. I have a funny feeling that my wait at the gate will be longer than my seat time - lol.
