I think the Pill explained it very well... They will be making GT350's for several years.

Also Ford seems to think the "R" wing is not an exclusive item ... They slapped it on a 2015 custom config....

https://media.ford.com/content/ford...15/ford-announces-apollo-edition-mustang.html

So I see plenty of us non-"R" owners putting on "R" Wings and Splitters and even buying some lighter flow formed or forged wheels that are lighter than 25Lbs each with some sticky rubber on them.

I don't think the fact that they put it on a 1 of 1 production car helps your case that it's not "exclusive". :)

Until you look on fordparts.com and even the lower GT350 wing (the one that raises at an angle up toward the rear and looks like like the 05-09 GT500 wing sort of) is $1,935 :eyebulge:

Expect the R wing to be even more if its carbon fiber. Just because you CAN do it doesn't mean it will be anywhere near affordable to do so.

That link is a donation car 1 of a kind for charity. Ford can put anything they want on a car, they don't have a wallet to check first.

That's not a far stretch if I want to buy it. Really isn't. If you wait...Seibon may even release part numbers for this wing. It is after all... an aftermarket part manufactured for Ford, not by Ford.

I too am trying to find a elusive R model. Lots of dead ends.
Lots of confusion out there among the different dealerships. Some say the are getting the R model but have sold them already and other dealers in the GT350 program don't seem to know. This is very hard to know for real who's getting what.
Cheers

Team Ford Lincoln - Las Vegas.
Mike Lambert - sales.
6 wks ago their deal was 25k. 10K deposit. Wht. + blue stripes + elect. opt.
Who in their right mind would go for that deal ?! It could still be available, maybe at a real world price. Worth a call ?
Good Luck !

Thanks for the info. It's worth a call. I'll actually be in LAS either next week or one after and will stop by in person also.
Even if I could get a 2017 R commitment would be good news.
Thanks again for the reply.

Tyler Ford in Tyler TX has one for 10k over. In fact, the guy proclaimed "BETTER HURRY, because we are only asking 10k, while others are asking 15k"

Ask for Paul Lusk in internet sales.

Seibon currently lists an all Carbon Fiber Nissan GTR wing that is pretty similar to the GT350R Wing for $2400.00. In fact there was a spy shot photo shared by TopNotch a while back showing a red "R" with what looked like the Seibon variant of the Wing. The giveaway was the small white pedestal in the center of the Wing to the decklid. I think the wing was reinforced prior to OEM production to eliminate the need for the middle pedestal and prevent any flutter at high speeds. Otherwise the wings look identical.

I'm willing to bet it would make up the entire difference.
Not a chance. It is clear that the low rotational weight of the carbon fiber wheels have changed the vehicle dynamics dramatically. We will see further proof through the instrumented tests.

Most people can't afford a 70k mustang.
You forget that the typical Mustang buyers of the past are not the only ones shopping for this SE Mustang. The FPC, IRS, perf value has former/current BMW, Porsche, etc. owners seeking to put one in their garage. The demand and customer demographics are quite different. These won't be sitting on lots or showroom floors for long for the most part. The ones that do is where the dealer is asking stupid ADM's but not on account of demand.

The CF wheels are 18.36Lbs each.

The GTPP Wheels are a smidgen over 30Ls each

A good set of equivalent sized Forged Aluminum Wheels come in between 22.5 to 25 Lbs each.

With good rubber on them..... You'll close the Gap on the "R" very quickly.

If Tire Rack can do a test of a rubber swap using Randy Probst as the baseline for test driving..... Between a Porshe 911S and then a Toyota Prius with top shelf rubber and pull the same G's with a simple tire swap and no other changes to the suspension ....

then a tire and wheel swap on a GT350 will definitely change things to chase down an "R". If it's then a driver's race. Then it can go either way once that variable is addressed.
