Good morning.

I’m looking for injectors.

Lund recommends ID1050’s but has said 72s would be fine.

Looking at options but I’m not familiar with the physical size etc. I’ve read posts where members have had issues with the “hat” or fitment challenges.

These will be going in the EB E-Force fuel rails where I know the set up is not ideal and finicky.

So... I see EV 6 and EV 14. I have no idea what those numbers mean.

What is the physical difference in mounting the stock injectors, the LU 47s and say Bosch or DW 72s or 95s?

If I’m wrong, please say so. I thought the DW brand actually used Bosch injectors?

Sorry to be ignorant... but hoping knowledgeable folks could shed some light!

Thank you!

EV6 and EV14 is the plug in style. If they work with the Edelbrock I'd recomend the 1050x's. They are a little more pricey, but more consistent performance from idle and part throttle for the best driveability. And their all stainless design is best for E85. The 1050x's use a spacer to fit a coyote as the actual injector is shorter than stockers. Shameless plug I have some for sale with very little useage on them. pm me if you're interested.

The issue with the ID's on the Edelbrock rails is that the rails aren't exactly machined with great precision. There are cases of the angle not being correct and customers needing to drill mounting holes out to make them fit better. Plus the rails bolt horizontally to the blower instead of downwards on the injectors. So the ID's being a 2 piece can cause leaks at the hat.

I am in the same situation, I have the EB 2650 blower on my 19GT, and want to upgrade fueling for E85, but not sure what injectors I should go with. I'd like to use the ID1050X, but it was hard enough getting the factory fuel injectors installed leak free, I'm not about to make it even harder on myself.

EV1 were the original Bosch "fat" injectors, EV6 are skinnier and approximately the same length, and EV14 which are the new standard.

Pretty much all the aftermarket injector bodies are Bosch EV14. There are actually three EV14 bodies, the EV14L (long) which is 60.65mm measured across the o-ring lands and approximately the same length as the EV6, then there's the EV14S (standard) which is shorter at 48.65mm, and EV14K (compact) which 33.60mm. The S and K bodies can also be ordered with an xT suffix for an extended length 24mm tip as opposed to the standard 11mm tip length.

Ford used the shorter 48mm body EV14S 52 lb/hr injector on the 2013-2014 GT500, that's the "MU52" set from FRPP. They use EV6 "long" bodies for the "LU47" set.

EV14S is what the aftermarket guys use because they're widely available and you can make different adapters depending on the application. I think ID may actually use the EV14K bodies most of the time. Your time is better spent on bench assembly and doing whatever is needed to get good, repeatable fit up of the injectors and rails. After that you should be able to swap to whatever you want.

Jeeze...

Thanks for the info! I knew there would be gurus that could explain everything!!!

Nothing easy lol. So there will be a height difference. What are the hats I’ve seen referred to?

The EB comes with the LU47s. Are they the same dimensions and height as stock then?

I know the IDs May be the best and they’re priced accordingly. I know not to skimp on the fuel system, but there are some really good injectors at half the price that will be more than adequate and that people have had great results with. Purely from a cost standpoint, I’m leaning that way.

We have no e85 here so that will never be a concern.

So what 72 78 or 95 will be a “drop in”?

I'm looking at FIC 775s, but I need to confirm they're using the extended tip standard body (EV14SxT) with their lower adapters, just worried where the nozzle is in relation to the outlet of the adapter.

Definitely talk to your tuner about it. As far as DW stuff is concerned, Lund (for example) were only interested in the 95s when I spoke with them 12-18 months ago and that’s what I ended up with. No dramas with them at all.
Things may have changed since then. I’m guessing other tuners will have their own take on things/preferences.
