Just interested to know what the latest version of SD card the Australian delivered cars have? I want to check this when I pick up my car but not sure what I will be looking at.

Just recently had my car in for the 3k check up.

They were able to get the DAB working.

I enquired about a map update, as I have noticed that the current GPS map has a few anomalies!

I was advised that there is no update for the mustang as yet! However when available can be purchased from the Ford Au website.

Just had a look at the site. At the bottom of the page under Owner/ Sat Nav map updates. Shows nothing for the mustang but the update for other models is $199!!!

I was told by my dealer that the map updates are free to all the ford range. I assumed it across the board and not just for my dealer.

Was that before he had your signature or after?

Map updates in the new Mondeo are around the $220 mark so being Sync 2 as well I suspect they will be the same for the Mustang.

My dealer just confirmed to me that Sync-2 map updates are currently free. Sync-1 map updates on the other hand do have a charge.

He's trying to to establish whether that policy is changing (since I put doubt in his mind, no doubt).

Here's the quote from email he sent;
I have contacted Ford Motor Company directly, and as I mentioned there is currently no pricing on the Sync 2 system for the map updates.
I am awaiting confirmation in regards to whether there will be a price in the future.

The previous Sync 1 system does have pricing for updates.

I would be very surprised if there isn't a charge for map updates. My understanding is that map data is typically owned by a third party (such as Sensis) and they are the ones who charge the manufacturers for the updates.

I hope I am wrong. I';ve never updated maps in other cars as the costs have been inhibitive.

Well I just rang Ford Australia themselves - "Yep we'll be charging for map updates when they become available"
