Hey Guys,

May seem a funny question, but having lived in a metric society for so long here in Australia, can anyone advise if my new Race Red GT will require SAE spanners & sockets when she gets here or will she be built using metric fasteners now that she is part of the Ford global community.

Either way, it's all good.....just need to know which tools to prepare for.

Cheers,
James

buy yourself a decent set of kinchrome or sidchrome ones, that have both, a good quality set will make life alot simpler due to less ratchet swing needed, better grip on the bolt, less likely to round a bolt etc etc. i'm pretty sure it will be SAE as even my holden VZ SSZ all the block is SAE as its built to US spec, the body is metric as its made in AUS, it's stupid.

So far on my header install, everything has been metric. Motor mounts, starter bolts, exhaust studs have all been metric.

The big 3 of have been using metric fasteners for a good while now. You will not need any SAE tools for any of the new american cars these days.

OP, you're going to need both SAE and Metric for one of these cars...
What do you need SAE for on the 2015 mustang? I haven't seen any part that is anything but Metric.

you need the SAE because you will need the 2nd socket size you grab, it is never the first.

Better have your Whitworth tools handy--but seriously I'm sure Fords since the 90's have been metric.

Why do you need SAE? I don't understand this comment. I'm very much into having the right tool for the job and I don't see the need for anything SAE on modern day cars.

ok the fact is that you only need metric,

i was making a reference to murphy's law. if you have 2 options, it'll always be the 2nd of the 2, like plugging in a USB plug.
