1st week I did got my GUARD Mustang I installed a "invisible mask" on the hood, fenders and bumper. Driving in the Edmonton / AB area through the winter with all the gravel on the roads - I didn't see anything like you have on your Ruby Red Mustang. I hope that RUBY RED Mustangs aren't the one with the thinnest paint job. That looks bad. :faint:

Our paints are very soft. Luckily for me, I got Ceramic Pro paint protection on my car. I have no paint chips after 3000kms. While the Ceramic Pro won't offer 100% protection, it does add another hard layer of Clear coat, which will help in this situation with the smaller rock chips. Best part is I never have to wax, and my car always looks clean.

The s197s had thin paint too esp the black. My 2010 got rock chips and scratches so easily.

Every vehicle nowadays has thin paint. There's no such thing as "2 coats base/2 coats clear" the robots are only programmed to spray enough to cover the car.

Clear bra within 1st week of ownership will protect against frontal damage, but the OPs looks to be further back.

Just so you guys know your not alone with our Ford paint issues. My wifes 2013 Subaruhad about 20 stone chips on the hood and fenders. So I agree that it must be the crappy EPA happy paint they are forced to use.

Dr. Colorchip and a clear bra or Opti Coat are your safest bets. I'll probably be doing the opti coat since we get bad sand storms that already ruined my 2013 VW Golf.

How did you discover they were repainted? Was that done before you purchased the car, are you the first owner?

Good on them. My guess is you had a bird do a number on it as a few other members did, that does not look like flaking paint to me. I would guess they agreed to fix it more to avoid a PR problem than because they actually felt they were at fault. I could be wrong...

either way I am so very happy... If it was a bird or what not it happened when it was at the dealership before I purchased the car.. I would never leave bird stuff on my car as soon as I was aware. I take very much pride in how my cars look... I do not agree that Ford just did me a PR event.. I had to go back 3 times and have the dealer take different pictures each time. Either way I am so relieved..
