Gotcha Joe. The haters are probably a lot of S197 owners sad they can't afford a new car, or users of other brands that like to pile on. I'm sure there are a few people who genuinely don't like the fusion or s550 as well, but I feel like they aren't quite as vocal.

I get that feeling at times, as well.

Call it whatever you like; 100% fusion, 0% fusion. The new one just looks good regardless of what it looks like.

If I said you looked like someone that more people than not thought was attractive, how would you take it?

Most people say the front of the fusion looks like a sports car....what is the mustang?

Going with the face analogy, the '15 looks like an angry mean shark while the '11 looks more dumbfounded ('d'uh... wass goin' on 'ere...') :D No offense to the owner of that 2011. I'm sure it has brought you lots of pleasure for many years (something I'm very envious of - only having driven a V6 rental for 5 weeks of my life ever!)

I saw a fusion yesterday and the first thing that jumped to mind was the front end was similiar in some ways. I definitely don't the mustang taking any visual design cues from another car, but maybe it's just an irrational desire to have the car look like nothing else but a mustang.

One thing that I really didn't realize until I put these shots together, is just how bulkly some aspects of the 197 are. And don't get me wrong, I really love my S197. That's what makes the decision whether to order a 2015 so difficult. At any rate, the S550 is very sleek.

I still wrestle with the decision, lol. If I do it, I'd like to order now although there might be more options available next year, so maybe it'd be good to wait. On the other hand, I have a feeling my car will be worth most as a trade-in/sell now, unless of course the sales of the S550 aren't what Ford hopes. In that case, there may be a market for the S197 and it holds it's value better. I would expect sales to be good (assuming the whole added weight thing isn't too much) I don't know what proper course of action is, lol. I've been debating this for weeks.

I just want to point out that just because the designers started off with the S197 CAD model when they went to work (assuming they did) morphing it into the S550, that alone really doesn't mean anything.

It is not an uncommon practice for a designer or engineer to start off with the last thing they worked on (assuming its similar) and use that as a jump-off point for the next project. I do it all the time. Its just a lot easier than reinventing the wheel each time, especially since all of the little detail features that are commonly used are already in there, just requiring tweaking to meet current needs. Its usually easier to adjust and push features and dimensions around than it is create from scratch. The catch is that if there's an error somewhere that isn't caught, it gets propagated forward. But these things are usually caught during prototype build/test.

Man overhead shot makes the current GT500 and S550 look so similar. It's amazing how they a few nip tucks make it appear that much smaller too. The stance made a huge difference.

Yep. Agree. I do a lot of digital design work myself, and often follow this same approach, even when I know the end result is going to be dramatically different than what I started with.

Very nice pics everyone. Thank you. When I saw the 2015 Mustang at the 50th Las Vegas show some of it appears smaller but the rear end now really looks bigger width wise. It's a beautiful car but so is the 2014. It's a give and take I guess.

I'm going to hold out for the '15 next year around this time as I like certain styling features and the addition of new features more than the '14 even though I could pick one up for a steal now. Plus he interior is a total sell on me.

I rented a '13 last year and it was nice (made me but it didn't seem to have that Mustang "spirit" due to what I thought was an ok but a bit bland interior (dash). The '15 adds just the right angles and curves to make me like it a lot.

Anyhow, I think all years of Mustangs are cool (even the Mustang II's) but the '15 is the year for me!

Awesome...it's funny, but they're really apples.to oranges as far as preference goes. I can think of reasons to prefer both, but the 2015 really is much more composed and fluid in its design vs the 2014 which is awesome and all...but it looks like what it is, which is a previously designed car that has had the Shelby front end grafted onto it. Still awesome, but the 2015 has the same cues and features throughout, which is nice.

I really wish somebody would be able to get a good sideways back to back comparison shot from out in the wild.
